W3C Statement on Ethical Web Principles guides the community to build a better web The Ethical Web Principles, which build on W3C’s core values and principles in the web and its architecture, are a call to action for the web industry and for W3C itself, aiming to deliver positive so...

This. I have regretted every so-called smart TV or device that I have purchased that wasn't Roku. The UI works predictably with strong focus indicators, they have all the services you'd want (and a million you probably don't), and they handle buffering better than any other.

The "Farmer Says" toy is a classic educational toy that was the first talking toy that allowed children to choose the phrase they wanted to hear. By pointing the arrow to an animal and pulling the cord, children can hear the name of the animal and the sound it makes.

Accessibility is not a loud, one-time event; It isn't about quick fixes or public shaming.

it's like watering a plant – splash it once, and you'll make a mess; nurture it daily, and you'll watch it thrive.

I feel like we did all that work on basic accessibility for screen readers beyond alt text for Twitter and then people just... forgot it all.

Don't use special characters in your display name. Don't do ASCII art because it's hell on screen reader users. etc.

I was tempted to sleep in this morning but forced myself up. So glad I did. I got to hear Haben Girma speak truth with kindness and humor in her keynote at CSUN Assistive Technology Conference. So grateful I didn't miss this opportunity. #csunatc24 #a11y #ada #disabilities

A lot of working towards accessibility can feel like trying to boil the ocean. There’s so much to be done, and rarely enough people/time to do it.

You really have to hold onto the wins and carry them with you more than the difficulties of trying to create change in systems that do not want it.

The Census Bureau halts changing how it asks about disabilities following a backlash Facing a growing backlash, the U.S. Census Bureau has halted plans to change how it asks people about disabilities.

Another advocacy win! After pushback from disability and Long COVID advocates, the Census Bureau halted survey changes that would artificially reduce disability numbers by 40%, and limit access to resources for housing, schools, program benefits etc.
