I saw one on a fence in Kilburn a while ago - that was a lovely surprise!
Good news: local wildlife is making a comeback in East London.
Hackney Marshes is seeing a revival of kestrels, weasels, shrews and other small mammals. This is great for our environment and communities as we continue to build a greener London for everyone.
Flongs, spikes, NIBS... Remember these? A round-up of terminology from the early days of journalism, back when I was a lass. annasayburnlane.substack.com/p/flongs-spi...
A sea of English Bluebell shoots breaking ground
We have hundreds of thousands of English Bluebells awake 🥳
However, if you zoom in to this photo you will see clear evidence of similar numbers just breaking ground 🥱
Also a lot are still waiting for their alarm clocks to go off 😴
Colourful wall mosaic with abstract shapes, mainly in beige, yellow, red and blue. Identifiable images include a moth in the top right corner, and a large beige head with a multicoloured brain.
I just missed #MosaicMonday but here’s a picture regardless. One of the wonderful Paolozzi mosaics at Tottenham Court Road station #PublicArt
London was the first city in the Western world to host a Ramadan Lights display. It’s a powerful symbol of who we are as Londoners.
I’d like to extend my warmest wishes to Londoners and those around the world observing the holy month of Ramadan. Ramadan Mubarak.
I have apparently raised 33% of my fundraising target for the wonderful @refugeetales.bsky.social . I am suitably excited. If you want to help it on its way towards 50% that would be lovely www.justgiving.com/page/andrea-...
Here is a photo of some #mud from the @refugeetales.bsky.social walk at the weekend. We walk regardless of weather! Want to donate to this great cause? See the link 🤩

Wonderful #orchids at @rbgkew.bsky.social today!
@refugeetales.bsky.social - have you seen this?
Interesting article - why not give it a read?
This year’s @refugeetales.bsky.social walk will be passing by the home of the #EalingBeavers. So exciting! 🦫 🦫
The village of #Tyneham
A phone box in front of the old post office
Phone box and a glimpse of blue sky!
Tyneham church - still occasionally used for services
The ghost village of #Tyneham yesterday. The residents were removed by the military in 1943 - and never allowed to return. We left at dusk, just before the gate to the long, narrow road was closed. I always expect to look back and see lamps lighting in the windows, smoke unfurling from chimneys...
This sounds like a totally reasonable approach 🤷♀️
It’s a marvellous hippo/dog/cow creature!

At times like this I miss running a museum’s social media 🤣
Row of dolls’ heads on sticks showing the different stages of having their facial features painted on.
Display of dolls’ heads
Today’s work trip to @designmuseum.bsky.social to see the Barbie exhibition. Intrigued by the different stages of face painting and hair attachment #Barbie #DollDesign
I love Warrington Museum!
Today’s random find at the British Library’s medieval women exhibition. This may be the skull of Margaret of Anjou’s lion. How wonderfully bizarre. I love it 🦁
Cake for breakfast sounds perfect! I don’t suppose duct tape would fix the headphones? It’s my answer to a lot of things . . .
