The view from the summit of Mount Montgomery, looking back to Ulverstone and the Bass Strait, the shore of which was where I started the walk.
Still quite dry in the north, so not many fungi aside from the pioneer boletes. Top left os a beautiful shaggy cap (Boletellus emodensis).
A lone autumn bird orchid (Chiloglottis reflexa).
Not many people know that if a recidivist penguin damaged your property in Tasmania, between 1902 and 1962, you were legally entitled to call an officer of the law to have it incarcerated until it had been successfully rehabilitated and was able to reenter society. They struggled with the laundry press with those little flippers, though.
A walk from the shore up to the summit of Mount Montgomery, a small but lovely #hill in #Tasmania. A few #orchids and #fungi starting to emerge, and a nice #view from the summit. Also one of my favorite #signs for confusing tourists. #mountain #nature #Australia #flower
