Clarity on new fertility rules #BHIVA25 - while surrogacy in the UK is limited as Natalie Gamble states, the new rules make known donor surrogacy possible - so people living with HIV can donate gametes to friends & relatives with fertility challenges or have a friend or relative act as a surrogate.

The wonderful Natalie Gamble from Brilliant Beginnings talks about the new fertility rules for people living with HIV at #BHIVA25. The massive 6-yr campaign to change the law by @nationalaidstrust.bsky.social and @bhiva.bsky.social all started with her presentation at BHIVA 2018. Full circle indeed!

Wow! Dr Sarah Fiddler giving a masterclass in presenting clinical trial data in an understandable way for non-clinicians. So clear. #BHIVA25

Enormous congratulations to @tristanjbarber.bsky.social on being elected unopposed to be the new Chair of @bhiva.bsky.social , alongside the magnificent Nicky Mackie staying on as Vice Chair. What a pair! With everything facing the HIV community here and worldwide, they'll be a formidable force ❤️.

Having been following the news from CROI periodically and trying to make sense of it, I am super grateful for this. Just signed up and read the first (excellent, as always) update.

This is extremely true. Deviation from the @sheltercharity.bsky.social style guide of 2004 is hardwired into my brain as UNACCEPTABLE.

So true. I absorbed the Shelter style guide as an Information Officer 20 years ago and I am physically unable to deviate from it. It just feels BASD and WRONG when I do it.

Ughh. Really?! You are not just being grumpy Laura. It’s inexcusable de-personalising and makes me worry about what it reveals about the researchers attitudes. If that’s a wrong worry, it’s on them to reassure with more inclusive language.

I don’t have a word I just want to say I feel seen by this!

It’s wonderful news that the UK will co-host the Global Fund eighth replenishment with South Africa. This needs to be the beginning of a new approach to funding the international HIV effort and it’s more important than ever for the UK to step up with the global risk being caused by the USA.

Yeah that’s what I’ve been doing! I found a bunch of people today which was great. Including on your feed!

Hello everyone! I’m just trying to get my head around Bluesky. I’ve just found a bunch of old friends from bad-X- platform but can you help me? Suggest who I should be following to widen my network in here and I’ll try to post more often/more interesting things.

Global health challenges demand a global response.
Disease does not respect borders or distinguish between nationalities.

Ha! So right. White hot chocolate (or white chocolate of any temperature) is a travesty to all that is good and right in the world!

My first post: to recognise #WorldAidsDay. On this day of reflection & remembrance there is hope that the end of new cases of HIV could be in sight.

With more possibilities than ever before, realising them relies on not underestimating the barriers and resourcing the plan to break through them.

I worked on HIV, now I want to make sure this government ends new cases for good Today National AIDS Trust, the Elton John AIDS Foundation and Terrence Higgins Trust are coming together to launch their report, Getting on Track, at what is a timely moment.

"We must remember that this fight does not end with stopping new #HIV transmissions. As people living with HIV grow older, society needs to be equipped to provide appropriate care and support." @DannyBeales MP writes about the report "Getting on Track":
