In the foreground a little patch of what I think are lilies of the valley flowers, in an area where wood chips cover the ground. Towards the back right, another grouping of the same plant, with a smaller one even further into the background. This micro-clearing is semi-enclosed by lush green ferns. It’s 10am in the morning on the second-last day of February, 2026, where I also spotted budding cherry blossoms on trees around the neighbourhood.
Good morning, world! #Spring has sprung in #Vancouver (BC), Canada.

Someone has sure already made this observation but the fact they can convert all those empty warehouses into prison camps means they could have converted them into housing, community centers, job training centers or, hell, libraries or schools all along. It’s always a matter of will not resources.

Our VERY fluffy Toby, our two-year-old male tabby, is playing with his brother from a different mother, who has managed to flip a box over on top of himself and is playing “Turtle”. Toby has approached the box from the right, crouching with his forepaws reaching under the box, with his hindquarters up and arched. “Downward Cat”, if you will. The box is right up against the back our IKEA Poang chair and is more or less braced against pressure from that direction.

Black and white cat, curled up on a grey plush blanket that is over my uncrossed legs, his shoulder and upper body being supported by my right heel, who actually fell asleep before he had finished cleaning his left foreleg. There’s a little fluff of cardboard stuck to his bottle-brush of a tail. He didn’t get that far in his cleaning.
It’s as if he fell asleep mid-clean. My goober. 😻 He’ll get to the cardboard in his tail eventually. Or it’ll just fall off. Or Mom will help. Whatevs. He chill. He cute.

I adore and appreciate this man’s music. And then I find out about this ⬇️.
To me, it’s what true integrity and class are all about.
Bravo, sir, bravo.

Sad news. Dr. Gladys West passed on January 18. She was a pioneer behind GPS. If you use GPS, you have Dr. Gladys West to thank.

Not only in English. I can also see it happening in German a little. Not in formal use, obviously, but you can see noun to verb colloquially (in active and passive voice).

The fact that four hostile drones tried to hit Zelenskyy’s plane & it’s barely a blip in the news cycle should terrify everyone. We’ve been dragged so deep into the chaos era that an attempted strike on a world leader doesn’t even break through. When this becomes normal, the world is in real danger.

When sharing IS caring: on this week’s #cbcReclaimed, Tristan Grant (#WolfCastle) introduced me to #DeadPioneers. BF is a huuuuge punk fan and I was sure he hadn’t heard of them. Played him “Bad Indian” and he loved it too. What a track! Thank you for the gift and the share, Tristan!

I enjoyed The Nevers a lot (Tom Riley ftw), but I watched The (Baker Street) Irregulars around the same time and Thaddea Graham’s energy gladdened my nerdy heart.
Also, nerd heart loved Agent Carter, thought Galavant was brill, Life w/ Damian Lewis, and agree w/you on Awake. Oooh, Midnight, Texas?

I LOVED that show - it was terrific! The women on the show were soooo gooood! The whole cast was great. If you’re a bit of a nerd, it’s even more enjoyable because it’s about the early days of personal computing.

What a wonderful episode!!! Your humanity and humour (and use of “interwebz” etc) were a joyful accompaniment to all the important information and facts you shared; not just about MS, but the other doctory things. You are a proper treasure to your calling.

Meanwhile in Canada, the ever-whinging leader of the fed Cons had his butt handed to him (after 20 yrs) in the last election & now got himself elected b/c a goon stepped aside in a safe enough riding where he only ‘moved’ to like 5 mins ago. How is that legal? Dude, you tried, you lost, get over it.

Wooow, Cheetoh-in-Chief demanding another black woman resign her position of power? Funny how that keeps happening. And the organization she heads is meant to be independent of any/all interference. Nothing but top-down corruption for all the world to see.

I feel for you. One of ours is VERY communicative: pre-dawn, general attention, where is everyone?, I did a thing in the litterbox, feed me, play with me, yum yum treats/milk, bedtime etc. And the other one has a squeak of a micromew, hasn’t learned to purr yet, & he turns 2 in about 10 days! 🥳 😘

I can’t be alone in thinking that the #OldGuard2’s only purpose was to serve as a token reminiscent of the previous one only to get to the next one. I liked the overall story idea, but as far as execution, heart or soul went, it all felt superficial at best. More’s the pity b/c #TheOldGuard slayed!

There are two sorts of people who want AI:
1. People who are too lazy to bother learning to draw, write, play a musical instrument, edit a video, record a voice over, etc.
2. Billionaires who want to get even richer even more quickly.
The rest of us hate it.

My somewhat exhausted and happy face is at the bottom left of the image. I have a damp towel with glacier cold water around my neck and sunglasses on. Behind me an alpine meadow leading to the bottom of a small glacier taking up part of the bottom half of a mountain’s rockface. We are in southern Alberta, having parked at Upper Kananaskis Lake and hiked the Rawson Lake Trail on a Goldilocks day of not-too-warm, not-too-sunny day in early July. Took two hours (and hiking poles) for my unfit lungs to get up here.
My legs feel a little lead-like today after a “moderate” hike - to my very first flipping #glacier! It felt great & the rocks in #KananaskisCountry are simply WOW! Only two puffs up the Rawson Lake Trail, hiking poles, ‘tired pony trudge’ on the many steep bits, bug spray & the rest was alright.
