The cover of Lawson's book How to Be Okay When Nothing is Okay
Jenny Lawson writes funny and insightful books about having a brain that works against you.
But one thing she knows about is surviving. That's what I'm here for. Someone who understands survival.
Carrie only good for puns and man problems

All of this, and none of them think to improve maternal health. If women's health improves, we can eliminate the need for some abortions.
Sounds too much like right, I guess...

This is my favorite thing on the internet now. Good night.
I'm so fucking tired. I'm in a bad mood, I need rest that I can't get, and I have no help. Just me and my soul-deep weariness. I swear to God, man... I just need to say it. I don't think anyone cares. I just need to let it out.
Someone else is reading this! 😊🙌🏾
I want the most breakfast of breakfasts. I'm in the US
What shall I have?

Stuff like this is why Black folks believe conspiracies.
Local to where? I'd use it for my altar...
ENCOURAGE ME, PASSUH! 🙌🏾
I haven't watched it. I have my reasons and they're similar to the reasons why I don't want to watched Fruitvale Station.
But I have thoughts...
One of my favorite things about this ANTM doc is listening to Black people describe their experience of watching it and hearing them pronounce Netflix wrong.
... And she's going to tell them a story about their father and a fire that changed their lives. And by the end of the story, they're going to want their father DEAD.
It's giving Greek tragedy. It's giving Kill Bill. I want to see it.
Let me tell you about this...
This story is based on a play that opened in London. It opens on two Black women--Twins--who get a letter from their mother. They thought she was dead. She's not...
Someone other than me needs to know that I just made a cup of tea that smells EXACTLY LIKE peach cobbler.
It was scrumptious.
Jeanette McCurdy is a writing-ass bitch.
That's all. #libby #whatireadtoday
Happy Endings was so funny
... and lead the uprising. It's the whole "thank you Black women, for voting correctly" thing when everyone else voted opposite. Like, it's fair for the vulnerable ones to tap out, take care of themselves, and decide that y'all will get the revolution that you're going to fight for and nothing else
I'll take a stab at that...
1. The OP said "the people" aren't there yet. So it's not reasonable to ask one person to uprise alone. A population of people have to be ready to do that.
2. Sometimes people wait for the most marginalized, most vulnerable among us to get backed into a corner...
Yes, but they have pictures in them now
First lines from the story "We Men of Science": My wife was eleven months pregnant at the time, which always seemed to me an awful lot of months to be pregnant.

Uh... What?! Yeah, I'd say 11 months preggo is pretty far along.
I love a good first line...

You are now cursed with the job that the main character had in the last book you read. What is the job?
I'm reading 3 books right now. Do I choose all of them or...
I love the shortest stories the best. All of the stories are weird. Lol. He uses language so skillfully that he can fit so many feelings and surprises.
I forgot to do the alt text, and I wish there was an edit button. 🙁
