Considering the USA is the only country to have triggered Article5. For #Trump to question if NATO would come to their aid, is insulting to the service personnel from across NATO who served in Afghanistan! Especially for the Danes, the country with the highest per capita death toll in the coalition!

Week of sweltering US heat – is this the new normal in a warming world?
Ummm yes, have you not been listening?

Other countries have already been taking steps to attract US academics, the UK should take this opportunity to entice the best and brightest from the US to boost UK industries, academia, business, and Tax income!
I case you are still fence sitting about the USA...
Imagine the uproar if this was a Canadian in Chinese government custody. Wait... We don't even need to imagine. There's recent cases.
Take a look at the reform party manifesto. I've yet to see them carried out anywhere they've taken control of councils, but there are lots of direct or indirect motonormative policy ideas
This is Farage to a T. Nowhere to be seen when the adults talk, but somehow manages to continually get media space. The media need to call him out for the fraud he is.

It is a little weird to me countries aren’t more aggressively, formally trying to take advantage of the U.S. science brain drain. Once in a lifetime opportunity to buy low on Non-Dumbass Americans with PhDs who just wanna look into microscopes and quietly cure ass cancer as our country eats shit.
“We found there’s this perfect one-to-one relationship. If a city increased its road capacity by 10% then driving in that city went up by 10%.” Still one of the best articles on why building bigger roads leads to more driving. Understanding #InducedDemand Via @wired.com
Almost every line of this story would have been simply unbelievable a few months ago:
—Pioneering cancer researcher;
—*Arrested* at airport in Boston;
—Now indefinite ICE detention in Louisiana;
—"Crime": not declaring some frog-embryo samples for research.
Read it.

Remember, when Barcelona eliminated 3 lanes of vehicle traffic & converted this street into a 4.7km green pedestrian corridor in the heart of the Eixample grid, businesses sued. They actually won. But by decision-time, the businesses had decided they actually like it.

Portuguese editorial cartoonist Zez Vaz reaches back to Tiananmen Square to call on American defiance.
I'm not her biggest fan, but the news articles attacking #RachelReeves & making it seem like being out by a few months on LinkedIn is the worst thing she could do, seem to be forgetting, only a year ago there would have been a real scandal by lunch, & at least two more by the end of the day!
There are times in the past when this is the only thing that kept me working in Sustainability, when others fail to take it seriously or invest what is needed
The more we invest in cycling infrastructure, the more people will ride & the better off we all will be #cycling #climatecrises
Great news out of the USA today, Biden seems to be using at least some of his last days in office to get climate positive changes through www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

What a night for Welsh football and the women's game! An incredibly tense last few minutes and full credit to Ireland for giving it everything, but for the first time Cymru Women have qualified for the Euro's!
The UK government is under pressure from Ford & others to introduce incentives to buy EVs. I would much rather any incentives were focused on getting people out of cars & into more sustainable transport, which would be both more sustainable & better for most end users www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
This is a huge failure of policy which has built in car dependency for many.
People have to be given choices about transport. Not everyone is able or wants to drive.

I, for one, missed this from U. Tennessee researchers: energy systems with higher levels of solar and wind are *less* likely to suffer blackouts and extreme weather vulnerability. This is consistent with recent studies from Europe.
Managing large utility budgets requires staying up to date with global affairs. Trump having made it onto my risk register for increased prices, might (ironically) make it easier & more cost effective to decarbonise & justify energy conservation in the UK because gas prices will go up #silverlinings
The #budget hasn't been as carbon conscious as I had hoped, but increasing taxes on flights isn't a bad start! I was hoping to hear something on #tidal and more on #renewables generally

Scientific American and Nature doing presidential endorsements while WaPo and LA Times sit it out, is quite a thing.
NEW: “Do bike lanes really cause more traffic congestion? Here's what the research says. Studies from around the world show bike lanes ease congestion, reduce emissions & are a boon to businesses.”
And removing them would cost a lot & make traffic worse.
