Tidal: Geniale Plattform mit Schwächen Ich nutze echt gern Tidal, um Musik zu hören. Meine Frau und ich zahlen auch gern den monatlichen Betrag, und das tut uns auch nicht weh. Wer hier aufmerksam mitgelesen hat, weiß, dass ich ja auch überhaupt nicht müde werde, die Links zu meinen Tracks oder überhaupt zu meinen Veröffentlichungen zu teilen. Und ich werde auch immer hervorheben, dass im Vergleich zu Spotify Tidal durchaus seine Vorteile hat – sowohl als Musiker als auch als Musikhörende. Wenn es da nicht so ein Aber gäbe. ## Als kleiner Musicus hast du auf Tidal wohl nichts verloren So leid es mir tut, aber meine Musik geht auf Tidal komplett unter. Ich weiß von einigen Kontakten, die ich auch persönlich kenne, dass sie Tidal nutzen und dort auch meine Musik abspielen. Aber bei meinem Distributor Ditto Music kommt halt so gar nichts an. Also habe ich mal rumgefragt, wie das zustande kommt. Und es gibt eine nicht ganz so erfreuliche Erklärung dafür, dass ich überhaupt nicht beurteilen kann, wie meine Tracks dort überhaupt ankommen. Da kann ich noch so sehr erzählen, dass meine Tracks, EPs, meine beiden Alben allesamt deutlich besser und fetter klingen als auf der Katastrophe Spotify. Es hilft mir nicht. Ich bin ein Nichts auf Tidal. 3 Fans habe ich dort. Neulich habe ich jemandem ohne Deutsch als Muttersprache empfohlen, Tidal zu nutzen. Die Reaktion war ganz einfach: „Tidal? What the fuck?“ – Und am Ende ist es halt so wie mit WhatsApp: Warum soll mir jemand auf einer Streaming-Plattform folgen, wenn man das woanders schon tut? Mit 3 Fans komme ich zu gar nichts. Ich habe zusammen recherchiert, dass die Plattform quasi blockweise an Ditto Music die Zahlen meldet. Die vergüten zwar nicht erst ab 1000 Streams, sondern ab dem ersten. Allerdings melden sie erst ab 1000 Streams. Und das kann bei 3 Fans halt dauern. Zumal Tidal ohnehin mit einer Verzögerung von 6 – 12 Monaten die Zahlen überhaupt erst meldet. Im schlimmsten Fall also erfährt man irgendwann, wie viele Streams es in 3 Jahren waren oder so. ## Was heißt das jetzt? Naja, ich werde weiterhin nicht müde werden, Tidal zu loben. Die Soundqualität ist echt besser und nicht so komprimiert wie auf Spotify. Bei vergleichbaren Preisen wie bei Spotify ist das für jeden Menschen mit Liebe zur Musik ein Pfund. Ein weiteres Pfund ist es halt, dass bei Tidal der Anteil an KI-Dreck vergleichsweise gering ist. Also soweit ich das mitbekommen habe. Naja, und für Musiker lohnt sich das halt auch mehr. Nehmen wir mal an, ein Stück würde auf allen möglichen Plattformen 100x laufen. dann gäbe es das da: Laut Streaming Calculator zahlt Tidal am meisten Joar, mit Tidal erhält ein Musiker ungefähr dreimal so viel wie bei Spotify. Das zu vergleichbaren Preisen. Aber dann muss halt der schwarze Schwede eine gut funktionierende Tool-Sammlung wie der grüne, katastrophale Schwede haben. Und sie müssten aus dem Quark kommen mit ihren Meldungen. Gerade kleine Musiker wie ich freuen sich über jeden Stream. Bei Tidal tappst du da vollkommen im Dunkeln. Und dein Distributor kann auch nur mit den Schultern zucken. Ich werde also bei künftigen Veröffentlichungen das hier im Blog weiterhin so handhaben, dass ich den vorgefertigten Link von Ditto Music hernehme. Ich könnt ja selbst gucken, ob euer Streamingdienst dabei ist. Tidal muss ich einfach so mitlaufen lassen. Aber meine Musik bewerben kann ich damit nicht. Dafür müsste ich wahrscheinlich mehr auf all die Tools bei Spotify zurückgreifen. Sowas in der Art haben sie sogar beim Musiker-Spielzeug SoundCloud. Wer weiß, vielleicht kommen ja immer mal wieder Menschen auf die Idee, den Dienst zu wechseln, wenn der ganze KI-Quatsch ihnen zu sehr auf den Wecker fällt. Und wer weiß, vielleicht wechselt dann der eine oder die andere zu Tidal. Man verliert ja nichts. Die ganzen Playlisten könnt ihr mit umziehen. Das habe ich selbst gemacht. Und dann wird das vielleicht auch was, dass Tidal mitbekommt, dass sie Zahlen an Ditto melden müssen. ## Was heißt das für die Veröffentlichungen? Wenn ich einen Track, eine Single, eine EP oder ein Album veröffentliche, bekomme ich pro Release einen so genannten Smartlink. Mit dem bastelt mir Ditto Music eine Landing Page zur Veröffentlichung mit den einzelnen Links zur Streaming-Plattform. Ich wäre ja vollkommen bescheuert, irgendwas anderes zu nutzen. Hier seht ihr mal so einen Smartlink in Aktion: Zu meinem Album „Treasures“ Die Smartlinks haben sich im Allgemeinen durchgesetzt. Jaja, auch Taylor Swift verjuchtelt diese Links. Warum denn auch nicht? Und bei mir ist das so, dass halt auch Tidal mit dabei ist. Warum sollte ich das ändern? Aber ich weiß nicht, ob ich direkt auf meine Veröffentlichungen auf Tidal noch hinweisen soll. Ich meine, Spotify hatte mir vor ein paar Monaten auch nur 5 Fans angezeigt, jetzt sollen es 22 sein. Es muss sich ja entwickeln. Nee, ich werde meine Musik weiter überall hin verteilen. Nur darauf aufmerksam machen muss ich irgendwie anders. Eigentlich sträube ich mich gegen Spotify. Das ist aber immernoch am weitesten verbreitet. Am liebsten wäre es mir, ihr folgt mir auf Tidal, das ist ja keine Frage. Aber soll ich euch da echt verhaften? Ich muss mir das mal durch den Kopf gehen lassen. Jetzt weiß ich auf jeden Fall erstmal, dass der schwarze Schwede einfach nur träge ist und Abzüge in der B-Note hat. Vielleicht ändert sich das ja noch. ## Wo findet man meine Musik denn nun? Es ist bei vielen Musikern so, dass die irgendeinen Dienst wie LinkTree verwenden, um all ihre Social Media Profile und die Profile bei den Streaming-Diensten aufzulisten. In Sachen Social Media mache ich ja nur noch mit dem Fediverse und ein bisschen Bluesky rum, alles andere ist weg. Und wo meine Musik überall läuft, könntet ihr rausfinden, wenn ihr die Suche in eurem Dienst nutzt. Die wichtigsten Dienste sind aber hier aufgelistet: Zur Übersicht, wo ich zu finden bin Tjoar, dann müsst ihr halt mal gucken, ob euer Dienst dabei ist. Mehr kann ich nun wirklich nicht machen. Ich weiß halt, dass Tidal erst in den letzten Monaten echt beliebt geworden ist. Vielleicht dauert es halt einfach, bis mein Distributor irgendwas von denen erfährt. Deshalb werde ich weiter mit diesen Smartlinks um mich werfen, aber wahrscheinlich nicht mehr explizit drängeln, auf Tidal meine Musik zu hören.
