Pine Bunting standing on snow with its feathers fluffed up. The bird faces slightly to the right, with brown streaked upperparts, a pale belly, and small bits of snow on its bill. 雪の上に立つシラガホオジロ。羽毛を膨らませており、体はやや右向き。褐色の縞のある上面と淡い腹部が見え、嘴の周りに小さな雪が付いている。

A Marsh Tit perched on a low branch, facing the camera. The bird has a black cap, pale cheeks, and a fluffy, rounded body, with soft brownish-grey tones on the wings and back. Fallen leaves cover the ground in the background. 低い枝にとまって正面を向くハシブトガラ。黒い頭頂部と淡い頬、丸みのある体つきが見られ、翼と背中には淡い褐色が入っている。背景には落ち葉が敷き詰められている。

Although the colouring is almost the same and the eyes are just as round and cute, the Marsh Tit is far less beloved than the Long-tailed Tit — at least in Japan.
Where does this difference in affection come from? 🤔 🪶
