Some teachers might be very against any sort of contractions. Possibly still following British institutes directions on "proper" English. In other contexts, like in academic and more formal settings, they are very discouraged, so some teachers might perceive it also as "wrong" due to that

Instead of completely skipping it, you can try to just have an overlook or "speedrun" the basics. Another thing you can do it learn from one of those languages, so they will make sure to not have to repeat information they assume will already know and point out the differences

Ah, ok! In Portuguese the letter's with accents are not considered separate letters (so you just need to find the accent key and then click the vowel). You can easily install different languages on your keyboard (even on the computer) and switch between them, or this www.wikihow.com/Put-Accents-...
