Even Denzel needed a little bit of cura personalis to help him on his way. Check out this great story from Fordham University about how Denzel Washington got his start there.

"Reali noticed this vulnerability and empathy within himself as a kid. At Fordham, ahead of Global Outreach service trips, he was required to send letters to friends and family members expressing the ways in which they’d helped him grow."
Awesome post from The Ringer today highlighting the end of ESPN's long-running show Around the Horn. Great nod to host Tony Reali's time at @fordham.edu!
Probably the first time The Ringer has linked directly to a college's Mission and Ministry page.

As we celebrate 10 years of #LaudatoSi, we invite you to be a Pilgrim of Hope for Creation. Catholic communities across the U.S. are coming together during this Jubilee Year to organize local pilgrimages, including Laudato Si’ pilgrimages. #LaudatoSiWeek catholicpilgrimsofhope.org
Now that we've reached the unofficial start of summer, what are all our readers up to for these next few months? Conferences? Research trips? Writing? (With, hopefully, some time to rest and recover mixed it.) Let us know!
Happy Cannonball Day to all those who celebrate.
Congratulations to all of our new Jesuit school alumni who are graduating this month! Curious who is speaking at our colleges and universities this graduation season? Check out AJCU's list of all the commencement speakers.

Please join everyone at Conversations in praying for those who will participate in the papal conclave which opens today. May they exercise good discernment in a spirit of freedom as they choose the new leader of the Church.
Should be a great discussion!

One of Francis' most significant contributions to the life of the church was his promulgation of Laudato Si'. In 2016, our own James P. McCartin interviewed renowned Catholic theologian Elizabeth Johnson, CSJ, about that encyclical.

“His vision for the church was neither progressive nor traditional — it was not primarily about ideology …(“We do not serve ideas, we serve people,” he would admonish ideologues.) Rather, his vision was about the structure of the church: Closeness, proximity was the goal.”
In 2022, Channing Lee from Georgetown University wrote "Building Bridges of Hope: Reflection on a Synodal Encounter with Pope Francis." Revisit that piece here:

Happy Opening Day to all those who celebrate! While college basketball certainly holds pride of place in the world of Jesuit higher ed., it has often been suggested that baseball is the most spiritual major sport. Is anyone finding God at the ballpark today?

The feast of St. Oscar Romero is a good day to revisit a piece Philip Metres of John Carroll wrote in 2023, "Let us be attentive!: How wondering leads to justice-seeking." He wrote about how Romero helped him understand the Preferential Option for the Poor.
