Our photograph shows the remains of a large tree that has recently been felled during a winter storm in a grassy outdoor area on a bright, clear day. In the foreground, close to the camera, there is a freshly cracked tree stump. Its flat top surface is pale golden wood, with rough splinters and jagged shards sticking up where the trunk has sheered . The outer bark forms a dark ring around the edge, and patches of green moss cling to the sides. Sawdust and wood chips scatter across the ground nearby, creating a dusty yellow patch on the grass. Just beyond the stump lies the thick trunk of the fallen tree. The trunk stretches diagonally across the scene from the lower right toward the middle left of the image. The broken end of the trunk is sharply splintered, revealing bright, raw wood where the tree snapped. The bark is rough and grey-brown, and parts of the trunk are covered in green moss. Smaller branches extend from it, tangled and leafless, twisting like thin wires against the sky. The ground around the tree is uneven and grassy, with small plants and patches of sunlight catching the greenery. The sunlight is strong, casting crisp shadows and highlighting the textures of bark, moss, and freshly exposed wood. In the background, a line of tall trees stands along the edge of a field. Most of them are bare, their branches thin and delicate, suggesting late winter. Some trunks are partly wrapped with ivy climbing upward. Beyond them, the landscape opens into a green field. Above everything stretches a deep, vivid blue sky with no clouds visible. The sky occupies a large part of the upper half of the image, giving the scene a bright, open feeling. Overall, the picture contrasts the vitality of the bright sky and green field with the powerful image of the fallen tree, its broken wood glowing in the sunlight and its branches now resting on the ground. Finally our picture is finished with a simple white border frame.

After the picture description, l have written a poem inspired by this shot. This is a dramatic black & white landscape photograph of open countryside beneath a vast, turbulent sky. In the foreground, wild grasses & leafy hedgerow plants grow thick and untamed, their textures sharp and tangled. Just beyond them, a narrow dirt path curves gently from the left side of the image & sweeps into the distance, disappearing into a broad field of low, uniform crops. The field stretches wide & flat toward the horizon. Along the middle distance, a line of mature trees forms a dark boundary between land & sky. Their rounded canopies appear almost silhouetted against the light breaking through the clouds. But the sky dominates the scene. Heavy, layered storm clouds roll and billow across nearly three-quarters of the image. They are dense & dramatic, with deep charcoal shadows and streaks of lighter grey where sunlight struggles to break through. The clouds feel low & pressing, as though the air itself is heavy with anticipation. The contrast between the dark sky & the pale field below gives the landscape a sense of tension & quiet resilience. The overall mood is powerful & contemplative, a moment just before rain, when the world holds its breath. Finally, our picture is finished with a simple white border frame. And now for my poem.. I call it…Navigating the Storm The path bends softly through the land, A quiet ribbon drawn by steady hand. Above, the clouds in fury rise, Great shadows marching through the skies. The wind may press, the light grow thin, And thunder murmur deep within Yet still the earth beneath our feet Holds firm where doubt and courage meet. For storms will gather, dark and wide, And hope may seem a shrinking tide, But like that road through field and seam, We curve, endure, and keep the dream. No sky can rage forevermore, No night but yields to dawn once more And every storm we travel through Carves stronger paths in me and you.
