Tracks.
I've said this in numerous columns, others have said it, but the greatest enemy to drivers is other drivers. Whether it's delays, traffic or life or death or dents. Other drivers are the main threat. Everything else is distraction and intentional scapegoating to avoid the truth.

“OUR city isn’t [insert name of a much more livable & successful city here].”
Trust me, we know that. It’s abundantly obvious that you’re not that city.
That city made, and continues to make, much better choices with fewer excuses.
The real question is, do you want YOUR city to be better or not?

I got married this week and yes, we went by e-bike.
There is no excuse for modern cities. They’ve known about the need to reduce car traffic and improve public transport. They’ve dragged their heels on both and stuck their heads in the sand regarding climate change.
Introducing protected lanes for bikes addresses many important health issues.

IMPORTANT: Paris has been implementing a 5-Year Pedestrian Plan:
- 300 million € invested by 2026
- 100 new hectares of pedestrian space
- 100 more “streets for kids”
- Focus on 0 pedestrian deaths #VisionZero
- Longer pedestrian cross times geared to seniors

If you ever visit Costa Rica through the San José airport (SJO) do let me know, if your visit matches one of the bike rides we can lend you one of our spare e-bikes.
Here’s another view of the bike. We organize a critical mass type ride monthly in our city. I painted the box myself to advertise the ride. Since the pandemic we’ve had a hard time getting people to join the rides, which does not help it be very critical mass…
“Critical Mass” is back in Toronto because of Ontario Premier Doug Ford’s vindictive and dangerous war on safe bike infrastructure and successful city-building. This was last night. #CriticalMass #Toronto #BikeLanes
We bought 2 vinyl records, a shirt and tamales from the other sellers. I’m glad that we can afford to spend on things we actually like rather than giving money to car importers who we don’t care about, fuel companies or car maintenance.
I am selling plants at a small neighborhood market and rather than borrowing a car or ordering an Uber, I brought 46 plants and a table on the cargo bike. The chair was brought in a pannier bag on another bike.
One of the more surprising things I’ve learned about e-bikes is owners may get *more* exercise than those who ride regular bikes, simply because people love e-bikes so much they’re more likely to actually use them.
“Evidence from the Netherlands (and increasingly from the UK, where new infrastructure has been built) shows that high quality cycling infrastructure is often shared with wheelchairs, mobility scooters and other assistive modes of transport.” cyclingfallacies.com/en/6/people-...
