In the last few weeks I've spoken to two executives at a major streamer - one in adult animation, one in preschool content for both animation and live action - and both basically told me the same thing: they're looking for YouTube success stories with huge subscriber bases. 🧵
Principal Kirk Moore was shot yesterday in Oklahoma while stopping a gunman who entered Pauls Valley High School with a firearm.
His heroic actions undoubtedly saved lives. Our leaders must act so educators aren’t on the frontlines of this crisis.
I try to take an interest in whatever my kids are doing on screens and make screen time a shared experience. Harder with my now teen, but we talk about whatever the latest craziness going around is and do wordle etc together.
😬
Reading some truly delightful #pbparty entries, some with unanimous YESes from the judges and one I really loved that had a mix of YESes, MAYBEs and NOs. Going to be fun to champion this one when the judges all convene. ❤️
Owl domestic squabbles are LOUD. #kidlitchat
A beaver looks up from a front lawn and sidewalk.
Me, too! The same happened with our oldest, who told my wife there was a beaver outside the house - she said he must have seen a groundhog. But he insisted and guess what? There was a beaver waddling around on our driveway. #kidlitchat
We had great horned owls nest in our yard a couple of years ago and the 2 owlets got VERY big up there, until their mom finally booted them out at 2am one night in a crazy loud free for all. They were NOT happy. #kidlitchat
No! My smallest said he saw an otter 2 years ago and the family didn’t take him seriously. But then an otter showed up to prove him right! #kidlitchat
We have them, too, and one has gone to town on the outside of our house once or twice - no damage, but what a crazy noise. #kidlitchat
A LOT OF WILD RABBITS. #kidlitchat
I keep up with the latest publishing and pie news with #kidlitchat! Thanks @bonnieadamson.com and @gregpincus.bsky.social ❤️
It was crazy to see a sudden MUNK lurking!
I saw an otter cross a street in Delaware recently, and that was a 1st for me. #kidlitchat
This mink was after a rabbit. We only saw one one previous time, and I was shocked to learn that they have a big presence at the town lake. #kidlitchat
We get coyotes and deer and recently had a MINK spotted in the backyard. #kidlitchat
They have a mix of books and gifts and toys that seems to be a good business model, and the vibe inside and out is wonderful. #kidlitchat
You should check out Browseabout Books in Rehoboth! a cute beach bookstore. #kidlitchat
salt + strawberries was bizarre but we kind of loved it. #kidlitchat
we get it when we visit family in Delaware and have loved it every time. #kidlitchat
Speaking of comps, NoveList is a great resource to find them. You can access it through your library. #kidlitchat
My wife discovered you can go wrong by mistakenly adding too much salt. But my niece and I strangely enjoyed that batch. #kidlitchat
It was cream, sweetened condensed milk, and fresh cut strawberries, so it was a hit with the kids even if it wasn’t freezing on the stainless steel the way it was supposed to. #kidlitchat
I tried making rolled ice cream the other day and had mixed results! 🤣 #kidlitchat
One way to keep up with #kidlit info right here on Bluesky is by checking the Kidlit Mega Feed! bsky.app/profile/did:... #kidlitchat
I note that @hunderdown.bsky.social is a great source of news and commentary on so much of our biz. #kidlitchat
I get a lot of news right here on Bluesky. My publishing friends and critique groups are also great sources of info, and the PB Workshop Discord is a good way to keep up with things. #kidlitchat
