Judge Orders Release of Mother and 5 Children Held in ICE Jail for Nearly a Year The El Gamal family, including two 5-year-old children, reportedly faced severe medical neglect in the Dilley facility.

A lawyer for the El Gamal family, that has spent close to a year at an immigration detention center in Texas, demanded the family’s release after a federal magistrate judge found that “requiring them to endure further detention… risks compounding the constitutional violation.”

The SAVE act died in the Senate.
