The 8th Mediaeval Mythbusting Blog was a look at why burn marks in historic buildings are probably not accidents with candles. Instead, there is a lot of evidence for these having been created deliberately to help spiritually protect buildings:

Photograph of a green field with a tree and a bush. A hedge can be seen right at the bottom of the photo. This is one of the sites of the battle.
Photo of a commemorative sign made of metal. It says 'These fields known as THE VINEYARDS are part of the historic battleground over which was fought the Decisive Battle of the Wars of the Roses on 4th May 1471 when Edward Prince of Wales was slain. They were purchased by the Corporation of Tewkesbury in 1929.' In fact, it is now believed that none of the battle took place in The Vineyards
4 May 1471, the Battle of Tewkesbury. Edward Prince of Wales, son of Margaret of Anjou and Henry VI, is slain. Queen Margaret is captured not long after. richardiii.net/richard-iii-...
I watched the first episode of season 2 of Wolf Hall.
I am in love with the costumes, fabrics, jewellery, tapestries, furniture, ink stands, rugs, hats, candle sticks and all the rest of the fabulous production design. It is a medieval feast for tired modern eyes. ❤️
Everyone is making their own AI Action figures. Here’s mine …. Cecily and Gwen of Charnwood.

Our former Chair @mattlewishistory.bsky.social has done an excellent video on Richard III. It is now available on YouTube at www.youtube.com/watch?v=kGYA...
A video has now been posted on our YouTube channel about some of the events on 22 March 2025, Remembering King Richard's Reburial www.youtube.com/watch?v=8bue...
On this day in 2015, King Richard III was laid to rest with honour and dignity at Leicester Cathedral. A king reclaimed by time, restored to history, and forever remembered.

Sally Henshaw of the Leicestershire Branch of the Richard III Society makes a few remarks before the oak tree is planted. She stands next to the Chair of Leicestershire County Council.
Some of Sally Henshaw's remarks: "On October 2nd 1452 Richard, the future King of England was born at Fotheringhay Castle. All that remains of the castle today is a mound. It is wonderful to think that a young tree from an oak at Fotheringhay, Richard’s birthplace, has been planted at Bosworth, where he yielded his life fighting valiantly for his crown and his kingdom 540 years ago.”
On 4 March, 2025 an oak tree was planted at Bosworth in memory of Richard III. The acorn came from a 600 year old tree at Fotheringhay where Richard was born. Sally Henshaw of the Leicestershire branch was invited to speak.

Today we remember Elizabeth MacKintosh, aka Josephine Tey, who died on this day in 1952. I am not the only one for whom her 1951 novel 'The Daughter of Time' was the starting point of an interest in Richard III and his time.

A few highlights from my 2024. It was fun. I wish you all a happy, safe and enjoyable New Year. 🥳
A nice walk on the last day of the year. My dog Gwen appreciated cooling her paws in the water as it was a warm morning.
✨ Christmas Eve and my #RichardIII decoration, along with his faithful boar, have taken pride of place upon the tree. 🎄
Merry Christmas to all my #Ricardian friends. ❤️
Thank you. I’ll take a look. 📚
The best book of 2024 (in my humble opinion) … The King’s Mother by @anniegarthwaite
There’s still time to get a copy for Christmas, as a present for someone else, or to treat yourself! 📚
Gone Medieval delivers a fascinating episode! It explores the lives of medieval nuns, and once again I am reminded of how much of what I was taught in school about the Middle Ages was wrong. This episode reveals how stimulating and unexpectedly positive the lives of medieval nuns could be.
Two cheaply thrifted
t-shirts made into festive cushion covers. The bottom hem and arm holes were sewn up and the cushions inserted through the neck hole.
They’re fun! 👕🧵🎅🎄
