ANNE:
For never yet one hour in his bed
Did I enjoy the golden dew of sleep,
But with his timorous dreams was still awaked.

Did Richard kill Anne in the Tragedy? The answer lies in 5.3. But anyway, no, despite her thinking he wanted to be 'rid' of her.
The War of the Roses series - Margaret Beaufort, Anne Neville, Elizabeth of York and Marguerite of Anjou were key players during the era.

👑 #OTD in #History 26 March 2015, King #RichardIII (1452 - 1485) of England was laid to rest in #Leicester Cathedral, a far more fitting venue than the carpark his remains had been discovered under.

I stared at this all Friday evening when I got back to my room. It’s going up on my den wall immediately. Utterly gobsmacked…
What an incredible and thoughtful gift. Thank you so, SO much, Daniel~🥀🤍!!

Jim Butler explains how the Abbot and his clergy welcomed King Richard to Leicester’s with his army as they arrived from Nottingham. A swarm of bicycle riders listen enthralled in Abbey Park
Riders listen to Jim on the corner of Abbey Gate and Woodgate on the North Bridge or St Sundays Bridge (Santo Domingo? The Dominican Friars?
Was Richard’s body exhumed and thrown into the River Soar here?

Really enjoyed today’s @rideleicester.bsky.social #RichardIII ride with @hiddenhistoriesjim.bsky.social on the 11th anniversary of his final journey. Plenty of eager learners too.
On this day 2015. The remains of King Richard III of England are taken to his reading place in the city of Leicester.
His remains had been discovered during excavations for a new car park.

11 years ago #OTD and what a day. A once in forever day. Cortège of a medieval king. #RichardIII
Our village, and others on the route, spent many hours, the community coming together, to prepare and dress the village for arrival of the King.

O, then began the tempest to my soul.
I passed, methought, the melancholy flood,
With that sour ferryman which poets write of,
Unto the kingdom of perpetual night.

Discours de la servitude volontaire – Etienne de La Boétie – https://www.singulier.eu/textes/reference/texte/pdf/servitude.pdf If no one pretends to believe the tyrant’s lies, if no one obeys the tyrant, the tyrant has no power. According to Arthur M. Schlesinger Jr. in The Imperial Presidency, if nobody obeys him, the dictator is just a guy in a room. Looking for Richard (1996): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Looking_for_Richard “The film is Pacino’s directorial debut. It is both a performance of selected scenes of William Shakespeare’s Richard III and a broader examination of Shakespeare’s continuing role and relevance in popular culture. The film was featured at the Sundance Film Festivalin January 1996 and it was screened in the Un Certain Regard section at the 1996 Cannes Film Festival”. In the documentary film by Al Pacino, Looking for Richard means American actors trying to understand the main character of Richard the III and thus all the other characters he seems to manipulate and control. But any company of actors would have to discuss and make research about the play, because it is a very intricate one. I like the expression “Looking for Richard” because it could also mean that the tyrant hides himself, and that would, for sure, be behind other people. He does not do the evil deeds himself. And, of course, those who do act, doing the mischief Richard wants, also hide themselves behind Richard’s back… How should we look at Richard? He’s just using words in a clever way, like an actor…

Just finished ‘The Daughter of Time’ by Josephine Tey (1951) and baffled how Richard III is still thought to have killed the ‘princes in the tower’. Everything I’ve looked up that was referenced in the book appears to be true so I don’t know what I’m missing here.
