It’s amazing how all the doctors who said not to mix politics and medicine are suddenly getting mentioned as political appointees.

What a strange coincidence.

I Wanted Someone To Teach Me How To Be Disabled. Turns Out There Are People Out Here Doing Just That. Becoming disabled is a total identity shift. That intersection between the practical and the existential is where disability doulas come in.

Well this feels real cute & intimate. @eriseady.bsky.social & I were both interviewed for this @huffpost.bsky.social piece on #disability doulas. I’m deeply grateful for all the disabled folks who have taught me how to be in the world as I am.

How COVID Helped Trump Win Biden never ended the pandemic, but he did end government efforts to mitigate its worst impacts

@walkerbragman.bsky.social and I collaborated on this look at how Biden’s refusal to confront the ongoing COVID pandemic - while ending every government program that dealt with its impacts- helped re-elect Donald Trump.

a group of people standing in a room with the words " all hands battle stations " on the bottom Alt: a group of people standing in a room with the words " all hands battle stations " on the bottom - from: Star Trek The Next Generation

Grad school definitely did not prepare me for being a therapist through a second Drump presidency. My nervous system was already dysregulated from the first 4 yrs....this is like Red Alert on steroids!

But we won’t be able to fix it. We’ve been trying for years. We needed YOUR help. We needed allies in the fight.

For the sake of your future self, of generations to come and because it’s the RIGHT thing to do - join us. Help us fight back. Admit our current course is unsustainable.

You will be unable to live in denial anymore. You can’t ā€œotherā€ yourself.

Some people will try - but the truth will out. You will realize that you are NOT the exception and that you too are ā€œvulnerableā€.

when that happens - most of us will be there for you. We will try and help. /5

One day the tables will turn and YOU may be on the side of the ā€œvulnerableā€. When that happens you’re going to wish you had listened to us. You will wish you had fought with us for inclusion, safer public spaces, better social supports.

You will realize how little help there is. /4

If you’re telling yourself certain things are ā€œonly a threat to the vulnerableā€ā€¦ you’re making yourself arbiter of someone’s worth

You don’t get to decide who’s worth protecting & who isn’t. We are ALL worth protecting

Everyone has value & it’s not about their health or economic contribution /3

You can’t throw away entire groups of people & retain your moral compass.

You can’t toss people to the wayside for ā€œback to normalā€ and not contribute to death and disability.

You can’t openly support hateful, ableist, racist politicians and not become enveloped by hate yourself /2

Disabled people are screaming at the top of our lungs that the current situation with Covid, climate AND politics is NOT sustainable.

We’ve lost too many people already. Millions of others have joined our ranks & are learning to navigate ableist & eugenicist systems

I do not know how any of us are functioning given the absolute clown car shit show circus we are being forced to exist in. Seriously I don't know if they could have come up with a more incompetent group of folks to change a lightbulb, let alone run a country. Clown country!🫣

Between getting sensory overload from the court and the ongoing lack of effort issues, I don't know which is worse. (I really don't like these specialty designs - the one in San Antonio last season was so bad, we had to turn it off - it was actually making me nauseous! ). C'mon guys!

Hi there! Happy to find you over here! This season is not what I need after last week. I need some dopamine and excitement, not more dread and despair!!! 🫣

I’m so tired of always feeling ā€œtooā€ - too much, too loud, too passionate, too smart, too impulsive, too talkative, too intense… it’s so exhausting and invalidating.

I see all these posts on SM about finding/forming community-but what if you have never really felt a part of a community? When you have always been the outsider, the weirdo, ā€œtoo much, etcā€ it’s hard to feel you belong anywhere. šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™€ļøšŸ™

While I am sure this is a less stressful experience, I am absolutely dreading having to try to figure out a way to engage in yet another space that I inherently don't feel comfortable in. (I don't feel comfortable in many spaces, real or digital TBH).
