They just had to drop this the day after my order of magnets for my Ork army shipped ๐ญ

Small mushroom Jared found while hiking.
Went on a solo hike today and my wife's one request was:
"Take photos of any cool mushrooms you see."
This is my submission for a cool mushroom that I saw.
There are plenty others but this one turned out the best IMO.
On a side note, apologies for no blog posts over the past month or so! It's been crazy busy in a good way!
Hoping to post something soon!
Finally at that time of year when it's easy to sleep since its still dark outside in the morning!
The downside:
It's dark outside so I don't want to actually get up now.
September is here, it was foggy this morning, I had a nice cup of tea, and I lit an Autumn themed candle.
It was a good morning.
Interviews, S.L.I.C.E, job offer, plans Sat. night, running a DnD one shot Sunday, finishing the one shot today.
Now time to do some neglected cleaning before starting the new job tomorrow.
I'm feeling really good after a fun last week or so but I'm so tired atm.
Thank you #SLICE for the wonderful day full of informational panels and lots of great chats!
Can't wait to see how it evolves next year!
Time to watch the fireside chat with ConcernedApe (aka the creator of stardew valley!)
And it begins!
Just barely made it in time for the opening speech.

Well, they're nothing too special, but I made some business cards for networking during #SLICE!
I'm super excited to listen to the panels and chat with some new people!
Im also pretty happy with how well the icon i drew turned out.

I'll be at #SLICE in Seattle this week! If you're someone who's been wanting to catch up, or just chat with me, let me know! I'd love to chat with people during the event!
One thing I need to learn, that I honestly have no idea how to start getting better at, is how to properly network and keep up to date with those already in my network.
I'm already bad enough keeping up with friends and family so keeping up with people I only know in a limited capacity is difficult
Sometimes you browse maker world and stumble on the perfect thing to print. The game room decoration continues to improve!
"Medieval Torch" by Fuzzie for anyone wondering
(It was a busy week last week and an insanely busy weekend)
Today is one of those days where I know what I need / should be doing, but my brain is just sitting here going:
First big rejection since I was laid off.
Feels bad but I'm at least getting a chance to get feedback and ask about other open roles which I'm thankful for.
So tomorrow will be facing whatever hard truths come my way, planning, learning, and trying again.
Sometimes you just gotta make some cherry jelly.
Apologies for the past couple weeks of silence!
When I got done with the Game Jam debrief life got a little busy. Several interviews for a couple of positions and some planned events in life kept me busy. Planning on doing a blog here soon recapping everything!
Its been a week since the conclusion of the #GameDev.TV #GameJam "Tiny Worlds" and I've finally got my thoughts all written out.
If you want to read about what happened on the project and my thoughts you can follow the link ๐

No blog post or video upload today.
Its been a busy week and I'm still working on the debrief from the GameDev.TV game jam. Had to take a break from writing that due to (thankfully) needing to write a couple of cover letters.
Now back to writing the debrief.
So much writing lately
Pictured is a wood frame that Jared created to hold a make shift double rain barrel system.
Silver lining of unemployment:
You can spend some time getting projects done. Today was the frame for a double rain barrel system, and all made with scrap pieces of wood.
Still need to do the PVC pipe part but I at least got it started.
I always forget just how demanding Unreal Engine is on a system. Then I open one of my old projects and remember I don't have a multi-core beast of a personal PC.
Next time I've got a chance to save up I'll need to think about a CPU upgrade. Or cranking my RAM up to my system max.
Went to the #WhidbeyIslandRenFair today and it was pretty good!
Defs seem to be experiencing some growing pains. Parking was abysmal and the line to get in was long but it had that wonderful feeling that comes from small ren fairs.
Side note: Post fair showers are some of the best you'll experience
There's a good feeling in starting the day with a home made breakfast, then going to the local farmers market, and finally grabbing a cup of coffee before coming home to sit down and enjoy the rain.
First video is live!
It's a long one and covers everything that I said in my blog posts but it was therapeutic to make.
Audio quality is meh, but I'm using what I've got and learning as I go.

Well, video is scheduled for Friday 5/16 @ 2pm PST.
We'll see how it goes but the thumbnail makes it very clear that I don't have much in the way of artistic talent. Its a somber first video but hard not to be when a lay off is what sparked its creation.
Hopefully next weeks is a happier mood.
I also realized after going through all this editing that I'm not sure how to use it for TikTok. Its far too long and far too much information for that.
Might need to do a second recording for that or figure out a different way to post content there. Maybe that'll be more for short life updates?
Won't lie, I didn't realize just how long it would take to render a ~20m video at 1080p. Takes about an hour to hour and a half with my hardware.
It was unfortunate that I had the "normalize audio" option checked the first time I rendered as a lot of it was too quiet.
Recorded nearly 40m of footage.
Cut off 12m pf empty space and deleted retakes of sentences.
Still 21m long which IDK if youtube will let me upload that much on a fresh account.
Going to try editing it down more but I had a lot to say.
Silver lining about the timing of my layoff, I at least got my free mini from my warhammer+ subscription before I canceled it.
