Finland ends homelessness and provides shelter for all in need - scoop.me In Finland, the number of homeless people has fallen sharply. Why? The country applies the "Housing First" concept agains homelessness.

“In Finland, the number of homeless people has fallen sharply. Those affected receive a small apartment & counselling with no preconditions. 4 out of 5 people affected make their way back into a stable life. And all this is CHEAPER than accepting homelessness.”

New Zealand Tour Dates - the full list!

I’ve been invited on a tour of Aotearoa NZ by
ANZSPM and Hospice NZ. I’m grateful for their hard work in arranging this trip.

Here’s where I’m going, a list of professional and public events, and ticket links for individual events.

Tell your Kiwi pals.

In 2018, 20% of trans people in Aotearoa had avoided seeing a doctor because of fear about how they'd be treated for their gender. In 2022, that had dropped to 11%! There's been so much work that has gone into this - and tho there are other barriers, I think this is a win we should celebrate

There's still time to submit.
Even just a couple of sentences expressing your opposition to this heinous bill - it all adds up.

Please.

"Owning up to our troubled past requires guts and grit. No one ever said it would be easy. But it is an essential step in the process of maturing as a society."

The TPB is part of a naked appeal by ACT to all who'd prefer we remain stunted in our national growth.

Addressing Racial and Ethnic Bias in Pulse Oximeters This Viewpoint discusses the racial and ethnic bias of pulse oximetry devices and presents interdisciplinary proposals to address it.

"Despite the problem of #racial and #ethnic #bias being known for decades, global use of pulse oximetry continues to increase, and it is incorporated into risk scores, triage algorithms, and artificial intelligence." #AI

This thread is so important.

Just take 5 mins to write that you oppose X bill. If you need, cut and paste a few lines from someone else’s work.

But KEY message- lots of really smart people will use their expertise to articulate complex things well, your job is to simply state your position.

Transgender children deserve access to healthcare This is my submission to Manatū Hauora's consultation on the rights of transgender children in Aotearoa to access the healthcare they need.

I've just published my own submission to Manatū Hauora's consultation on the right of transgender children in Aotearoa to access the healthcare they need - consultation they have opened on request from Minister Reti, with no good justification.

It's long, but may be useful for your own submission.

Did my submissions...used some of the amazing tools others have developed to help (thank you)...they weren't lengthy, but they are done.

Now need to do something calming as the need to do it makes me so angry.....
