Misread one of the cartoons and though you'd found three zines complaining about James Dyson. It seemed a very specific niche of zine!

I opened my work iPad to check a meeting invite (I'm not back until tomorrow) and saw emails in the triple figures. Yikes.

I am female enough to take it the other way - oh god, they think I'm pregnant! But I've now reached the age where someone thinking I'm pregnant would be a compliment.. (and whatever the reason, you get to sit down!)

That @lilacconf.bsky.social know to run an outstanding conference. I saw so many great presentations but missed so many more, three days just wasn't enough. Great support from @sheffielduni.bsky.social in keeping us fed, watered and going in the right directions. Thanks to the organisers #LILAC26

What session are you doing? I've booked pretty much all my sessions but I wasn't looking too much at names - would be good to see you present.

I naively thought students realised the reading list was just the starting point, only to see some lists attract maybe 20% of the cohort on that course.

I see some reading lists where the tutors have placed the readings in context, from weekly chapters, to "read this if you didn't study X at A-level". I am so impressed they do the work with core textbooks, supplementary material and background reading.

School book banning escalates in the UK as Greater Manchester secondary school censors scores of books - Index on Censorship A school librarian faced a disciplinary hearing and scores of books were removed from her school library after she stocked Laura Bates’ Men Who Hate Women

My excellent colleague @katiedd.bsky.social has just published this remarkable investigation into rampant book banning in a Greater Manchester secondary school library.

193 books including The Da Vinci Code, Twilight, White Teeth and 1984 Graphic Novel

Oh, someone's lifted their head up and said it's good that Queen wasn't around to see what's happened, the shame of it all. I think possibly they didn't understand where Andrew got the money to pay off the lawsuit...

And it's so well-organised - every time I do it, I think "Nah, they sounded too calm to have really got my details down correctly" and then as if by magic, the stuff is whisked away.

If the issue is uncollected reservations, why not add the fee to a user's record, and take it off when they collect the book? It seems spiteful, otherwise, to punish users who use the service responsibly, and especially those who have small, part-time libraries, as their local library service.

Well done Tin Can Knits! A pattern I bought years ago has just been extended, so they've automatically sent me a copy with all three versions. Talk about good customer service. 🧶

people living in the most socially deprived areas of Essex as most reservations currently placed are made by those living in more affluent areas. The financial impact of introducing a

I can almost understand the budget cut, it's actual money. What I don't understand is why they think charging for reservations will help their budget at all, to the point where they're estimating £150K per year income. I quote "Introducing a reservation charge would have minimal impact on (1/3)...

So in the National Year of Reading, Essex Libraries proposes to start charging for reservations. As my closest library is tiny, and only open 3 days a week (and two of those are half days) it feels like Great Wakering users are seen as either well-off or not worthy of full access to the book stock.
