The panaderia (a type of bakery) sits to the left of the plaza.

The old stone walls left behind by the Spaniards are the background. Up front, you see a yellow cart with a block of ice and a scraper for piragüa. The red solo cups are ready for the maví that's in the barrels.

Then upstairs, I did this plaza type of design. It takes after many different elements that I remember from my childhood. Part of it is from el paseo de la princesa and others from random locations like Puerto Nuevo and Carolina.

I did take some artistic liberties with it. There are certain things that houses usually have in Puerto Rico and I wanted to incorporate that.

I remember them particularly in the parking lot of Plaza Las Americas back in the 90s before it got developed into what it is now.

Learning the origin of the bird's name in our dialect leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Not sure what to make of it entirely as that's what I've known it as my entire life.

They're noisy and live along urban and suburban areas. Their name originates in africanism. It means someone who is noisy and/or makes a racket. The color of the bird also comes to play in its name.
