Had no idea: patented "podcasting" in 1996 and troll-sued the shit out of folks until the @eff.org (funded by Mark Cuban and Notch) successfully challenged the patent (ht The Phantom Plague)

I don’t think we’ve told this story on the pod…

This year's #kakapo breeding season has been the biggest on record:
- 256 eggs (252 in 2019)
- 148 fertile eggs (116 in 2019)
- 105 eggs hatched (86 in 2019).
It'll be 2+ months until we know how many chicks will fledge (73 in 2019). There are currently 95 alive. #conservation #kakapo2026 #birds
I loved this game!
30 years ago today, Principal Skinner purchased fast food to disguise as his own cooking at an unforgettable luncheon with Superintendent Chalmers.
#TheSimpsons episode “22 Short Films About Springfield” first aired April 14, 1996.
It's the classic Mel Gibson and Jesus meme where Mel is on set in normal clothes casually chatting to a very bloody Jesus (for those of you who don't know it).

I’ve been an @mlb.com tv subscriber for 20+ years. I have no idea how to subscribe this season. Wtf happened?

Sometimes I think that being a sportscaster is a vain and vapid and meaningless existence in times as fraught as ours, and then I think about what it would be like to be one of these miserable lowlifes.
Sort of! They have pretty poor thermal coupling between the A18 and the case so a 15¢ silicone thermal pad can get like a 15% performance boost; not including that by default feels almost like sabotage...
Really interesting on the Neo—using binned (ie less than perfect) A18 chips that would have otherwise been scrapped. Now that it’s selling so well Apple might need to take GOOD A18s (and disable a GPU), eating the cost.

🚨 Artemis II’s BIGGEST milestones are tomorrow. Here’s when they’ll happen:
📍1:56 PM ET (1756 UTC) Crew surpasses the Apollo 13 distance record
📍2:45 PM ET (1845 UTC) Lunar observation period begins
📍6:47 PM ET (2247 UTC) Loss of signal expected as Orion heads behind the Moon (~40 min)
Save his what now?
Mrs. Ross was similarly forgiving as I recall
I remember making this exact same typo in 8th grade when I wrote about “reigndeer”. Very relatable!
The @oxide.computer rack contains within it a distributed system that needs to trust itself. But how is this trust built? This week, @bcantrill.bsky.social and I were joined by colleagues Andrew and Finch to explore how Trust Quorum was designed, built, and verified.
1,800 comments say otherwise—and I thoroughly enjoyed each of them, from across the whole plane
Still waiting for the season to start next week
100%. I don’t think that has happened and that’s definitely not the intent. I appreciate you checking me on this. If you think it’s over the line I’ll remove my posts.
I respect that the leaked source code for the Claude client is protected by copyright.
But wouldn’t it be ok for me to train my LLM on it?
You know, fair use and all that.
Asking for a friend
Trying to get him on the podcast. Stay tuned
At least!
Agreed: one possibility is that this video is meticulously researched
This guy makes a lot of points! www.youtube.com/watch?v=FxjR...
Have you ever read Slack release notes?
i love the small print “because the regulators won’t let us :(“
Oxide and Friends is back, at a special time! @ahl.bsky.social and I will be joined by Oxide engineers Andrew Stone and Finch Foner to talk about how we build a quorum of trust in the distributed system that is the Oxide rack. Join us today at 2p Pacific/5p Eastern! discord.gg/QrcKGTTPrF?e...
