"So, you don't fund education programmes and you do not run your own programmes. What does your network actually do?"
This! 📹
Laura Savage (@iefg.bsky.social) examines the differences in public vs. private attitudes towards investing in education: www.youtube.com/shorts/Hf8mW...
Key reality check:
➡️ 251M kids out of school
➡️ 44M teacher shortage by 2030
and we're still asking, "does this EdTech actually work?" 🤨
The conversation that emerged from their session at CIES is one every EdTech funder needs to read. Links below👇

We're scaling marketing claims, not learning outcomes!

🎙️ While we're working on our BIG series on Education Philanthropy & Climate Crisis, here's a throwback from last year's #EdTech series (🧵):
Three women dropped some hard truths about the EdTech hype cycle. Only 7% of products targeting LMICs have actually been evaluated for learning impact.
We can't afford to treat the SDGs like a zero-sum game. Every goal reinforces the others!

Education isn't separate from other development goals. It's the foundation that makes them possible:
➡️ Climate resilience requires education
➡️ Gender equity advances through education
➡️ Economic growth depends on education
➡️ Health outcomes improve with education
Financing towards achieving the #SDGs cannot be a competition. 🧵
While climate finance and health rightfully receive attention, education is being pushed to the margins. This isn't just problematic, it's counterproductive.
