Well if that were true then sure.
However
Games like 'Buckshot Roulette', 'Crow Country' or even 'Lethal Company' are all cheap, encaptivating games which prove otherwise.
I'm looking forward to 'Airframe Ultra' and 'The Big Catch' myself.
I'd say it's a niche on the rise again if anything.
I bumped into a fantastic video about #lowpoly design pholosophy.
I think it frames a good direction for any #gamedev out there.

Rym 9000 is one BIG exception.
No Shoot 'Em Up goes harder than this and No Shoot 'Em Up is more underated.

Perfect Dark is so Slick for an N64 game. So reflective and shiny, I think even most Indie Games struggle to do this.
