I want a really strong ending. How about a cliffhanger: our main character announces he’s going to run for a third term — the country goes crazy! We’ve been telegraphing that all season! That’s a midseason, mid– ep zero-surprise! Revealed the stroke that he had? Interesting, but not enough…
How about this: A close-up of an oval office photo reveals a copy of ‘Mein Kampf’ behind his desk? Nah, we’re keeping the Hitler stuff subtextual! OK, I’ve been working on a great metaphor… Say Trump wants to build a Mar-a-Lago style ballroom in DC where he can accept adulation and bribes from the rich. Go on… So he bulldozes the White House to make room!! That’s crazy! No wait, that could work!
No, he’d never get the proper approvals! That’s the thing! He lies about it, then destroys it illegally! Perfect! The president, who’s destroying the presidency destroys the White House?? It’s barely even a metaphor! Too dumb even for this dumb show! It’s just implausible! We’ll lose all credibility with the audience! What if Trump leader builds a moat around the ballroom?!
