Journalists are facing intimidation, censorship or abusive lawsuits for simply doing their job.

We are taking action to support them.

The European Media Freedom Act and anti-SLAPPS measures protect journalists, uphold media pluralism and safeguard our democracy.

Without press freedom, there is no freedom.

On World Press Freedom Day and every day, we stand with all those who speak truth to power.

When the press is silenced, our democracy is weakened.

Free press. Free people. Strong democracy.

🌍Today marks World Consumer Rights Day!

🚨 Last year, over a quarter of EU consumers bought products from outside the EU. Consumers shopping online are 60% more likely to experience problems than those shopping offline.

I am committed to addressing these challenges 👇

Had an inspiring #YouthPolicyDialogue in Dublin! 🎉 30 young people shared feedback on boosting youth participation in democracy.

As Commissioner for Democracy, I’m committed to ensuring their voices are heard as we work on initiatives like the European Democracy Shield.

The Rule of Law & 🇪🇺 values are two sides of the same coin; there is no freedom or democracy without the Rule of Law.

Attended the General Affairs Council today to discuss this topic & exchanged with Thomas Byrne, 🇮🇪 Minister for EU Affairs, on support for Ukraine and strengthening our democracies.

Three years of strength from Ukraine 🇺🇦

As Ukraine continues to fight & defend its territorial integrity, we stand firm in our support.

Ukraine is the victim of a war of aggression perpetrated by Russia.

Our message is clear: we will stand with #Ukraine as long as it takes.

Around €10 trillion in citizens’ savings is held in low yield deposit accounts across the EU.

This means that many citizens who are in a position to do so are good at saving, yet are getting little in return.

Thanks to Commissioner Albuquerque for today’s meeting.

It was an honour to open the plenary debate in memory of journalists Ján Kuciak and Martina Kušnírová.

A free, independent and pluralist media is one of the fundamental pillars of our democracies.
