I took part in one of Peter's Rewilding 101 online courses in 2021 - it was a thrilling insight into humanity and the way we relate with the world. Rewilding isn't just for species and ecosystems it's for humans too.

However, stories and media continue to spread outdated ideas about #humanorigins and civilization. In my #Rewilding 101 course Iāve synthesized some of the most pertinent aspects of human history so you can learn the most important parts: how humans lived in #reciprocity with the land & each other.
Itās pretty amazing how little the average person knows about #human #history. Itās not taught in most schools, and unless you major in #anthropology you may never come across the information.

Iāve always been passionate about keeping a shared definition of #rewilding. While I actually do use many products that help alleviate the deleterious effects of living in a #society that is mismatched with how #humans have #evolved, it pains me to see people stop there.

#Huntergatherers work many hours less to procure their food than agriculturalists do to produce theirs. Most evidence shows that hunter-gatherers resisted #agricultural subsistence methods, and were either #colonized & enslaved by agricultural societies or died of the diseases that festered in them.
Did you know humans didnāt start farming because it was a more efficient way to get calories than hunting and gathering? There are many theories as to why certain #humansocieties began #farming, but the reality is that no one knows. What we do know, is that it certainly wasnāt for #efficiency.

Some humans have, however, caused the sixth mass #extinction in the history of earth within the last 10,000 years. While humans themselves are not flawed, some recent cultures are proven to be extremely self-destructive. How did it happen? What were we doing for the majority of our time here before?
DID YOU KNOWā¦. #Humans are not innately flawed animals. What we call āHumansā (The Homo Genus) evolved at least 2.5 million years ago. Our current species, #HomoSapiens, hasnāt changed significantly in the last 200,000 years. If humans were innately flawed we would not have #survived this long.
