Most of the public would choose not to reduce migration of people coming to the UK for a wide range of jobs, from doctors (77%) and care home workers (71%) to fruit pickers (70%), catering staff (63%), lorry drivers (63%) and engineers (65%).

The reality is that our environment affects our wellbeing - pandemics, the cost of living crisis, political unrest and ongoing concerns around climate change are all taking their toll. But when people seek help, they face months, or even years, of waiting. Rhetoric like this is dangerous. It reinforces stigma and stops people getting support.
