Temporary accommodation should be just that, temporary. It should also be safe. We need to act urgently, no more children can lose their lives because they don’t have a decent, stable roof over their heads.

This is absolutely heartbreaking.
Behind every one of these children is a family grieving the loss of a child that should never have died. These children and their families have been failed by our system.
This #WorldCurlewDay, I’ve joined the call for the Government to back the UK Curlew Action Plan.
The curlew is an iconic and much-loved bird that is now in serious decline.
If we don’t fight for it now, future generations will never hear it.
So sorry to hear that Marc!
Paula Barker with sign saying ‘just ask could it be sepsis?’
Sepsis is a life-threatening condition that can arise from any infection. It claims 11 million lives globally every year, including 48,000 in the UK. Yet, if caught quickly, sepsis is often treatable.

We need more truly affordable social housing and we need it now.
With fewer than 3 in every 100 homes listed for rent in England currently being affordable for those on local housing allowance and with nearly 176,000 children living in substandard, insecure, and unsafe temporary accomodation, we are at a crisis point.
It was an honour to speak at Shelter’s event on the future of council homes.
It was also a privilege to hear from the brilliant Anne Marie about her experience with social housing and just how vital it is.
Assumptions about MS can lead to harmful real-life consequences, from being underestimated at work to being harassed for using a disabled parking space.

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a neurological condition that affects more than 150,000 people in the UK. It’s unpredictable and different for everyone. It’s often painful, exhausting and causes problems with how people walk, move, see, think and feel.
Delighted to be a guest speaker at the LCR Labour Women's Forum today alongside Councillor Paulette Lappin & Councillor Beverley Kenyon.

Good campaign session this morning helping out in Knowsley with Anneliese Midgeley MP
Wonderful to meet with the brilliant Dave & Sarah from Stepping Stone this week.
The work they do to support people experiencing or threatened by homelessness, helping them to get back on their feet and find their independence again, is truly inspiring.

Fantastic Q&A session with students & staff of Liverpool John Moore's University.
Challenging and probing questions from participants, great to see.
Thinking of the families & loved ones of the 97 & those who still live with the scars of that terrible day, 37 years ago.
Always in our thoughts & prayers.

Happy Tamil New Year to all those celebrating in Liverpool Wavertree and beyond today!
Happy Vaisakhi to all celebrating in Liverpool Wavertree and beyond today!
We have heard time after time that lessons would be learnt yet here we are again.
So, I believe we now have to ask, is Prevent really fit for purpose – and what needs to be done to ensure no other family is forced to grieve a death that should never have happened?
No family should ever endure a loss like the families of Alice, Elsie and Bebe. Or like my constituents, Gary and Jan Furlong, whose son James was killed in the Forbury Gardens attack alongside Joseph and David. These deaths were all ruled as probably avoidable.

This is utterly chilling. These are not the words of a leader, these are the words of someone who is very dangerous & doesn't believe international law applies to him.
We should be unequivocal in our opposition to this war that has been started by Trump & Netanyahu.
Privilege to attend the Candour & Communities exhibition at Anfield with colleagues, Anneliese Midgeley MP & David Baines MP.
The fight for truth, justice & accountability still goes on.
The families are a beacon of hope & their strength, dignity & resilience is a lesson to all.

Statement on the situation in Cuba The US President signed an executive order on 29 January unjustifiably declaring Cuba as an “extraordinary threat” to the national security of the United States and authorising new sanctions against any country supplying oil to Cuba. The country was already facing a severe fuel shortage. These new sanctions have considerably worsened an already dire situation causing a huge humanitarian impact. This is a collective punishment of a civilian population. It is also a direct violation of the sovereignty of nations and international free trade. We need to reject all extraterritorial sanctions and uphold the right of sovereign states to determine their own trading relationships with Cuba. Solidarity with Cuba.

Happy Passover to my Jewish constituents & Jewish people celebrating across the world.
