Studying the First Year of Trump’s Second Term: The Renewed Importance of Participatory Governance The first year of Trump's second administration has marked a sharp departure from six decades of federal education policy. This policy brief examines how the administration has expanded executive auth...

Alright, so after many many drafts, my NEPC education “policy review” covering Year I of Trump II is out.

A “Not great, Bob!” gif might have served as well. I end up arguing that doing the life-giving work of good education requires intensely local effort in a newly obvious kind of way.

"Not a single brochosome or leafhopper was shown".

Lesson learned.

Let the writers do their job and explain the science in words. No need to link it to absolute slop.

A grad student (Univ of Illinois UC) was kind enough to take the time to answer some questions about a new study out of Penn State.
Then that news outlet (ScienceNews) turns around and puts her quote RIGHT NEXT to an absolutely AWFUL AI-video.

In the student's words: "it's booty cheeks & cringe".

But be careful.
Wit recent Dutch elections & coalition gov.
NL ended up w/ much of the same.
Voters were promised something different by the surging center-left, voters bet on them rather than labor & greens.
Result: Center-right still over-powering progressives & extreme right still substantial.

I’m a Nobel Prize-winning immigrant. I can no longer recognize this country. Attacks on science and immigrants are destroying America.

I have very similar experiences, except the Nobel prize bit, and such feelings of sadness and dread.

“I looked to this country as a beacon all those years ago, and I made the affirmative decision to create a life for myself here.”

Opinion | Beware conservatives promoting “intellectual freedom” Victor Ray: This conservative lie about schools like mine is furthering authoritarianism

Making tenure count, for MSNOW I wrote about my employer, The University of Iowa, creating a center for intellectual freedom. It's a reactionary project built on decades of conservative propaganda about higher ed.

I still have some Halloween candy that we could hand out along the route.

Raffle off some 3D printed moons?

Just let me know when to report at the staging area.

Most immigrants to the US work extremely hard. Trying to perform at expected levels or better…

…for YEARS after first arrival. This is my experience.

So I really don’t understand why a rich person w/out a “real” job can’t practice a 5min written speech 20 times so words are pronounced correctly 🤷🏻‍♀️

And this happened 20 minutes after a jar of Nutella floated by (I think it escaped from a bag the astronauts were reorganizing). Which I thought was hilarious. Being a modern human is a roller coaster of emotions.

I was so moved when watching live, didn't even know the story behind the name.

It was just clear that this man was overcome, and that his friends were sharing his pain & wanted to give support. Such a basic human emotion. True feelings shared at the greatest distance from "all that they hold dear"
