That makes sense. I’d be keen to learn more about Young and Lambert- I shall look into it!

Not setting limits is so important- a lot of us can be guilty of making assumptions about certain children which can lead to lower expectations however well intentioned so many educators are

A thousand times yes- it always puzzles me when it is said to teach specific things for the future when we don’t know what the future holds. Seeing maths as a means to develop logic and problem solving makes much more sense to me…

I think I have an amazing venue and HT in Leeds lined up that would love to host an event if we can get enough momentum. 😁

Well said- the passion and pride certainly shone through on the day- what a fantastic school, staff and cohort you have!

Yes!!! A couple of us Leeds teachers were just talking about this at the weekend. @mjogalvin1.bsky.social and team hosted a fantastic Cheshire conference and it made me wonder why the other side of the Pennines were missing out…

It’s good that 87% don’t require that though

Ugh- I once worked in a school like that with the old ‘the planning has to be detailed enough so anyone could pick it up and deliver the same lesson…’

@musingsofadr.bsky.social talk on trauma-informed practice and how trauma is really difficult to diagnose by expert psychologists etc so, as educators, we need to avoid putting ourselves in positions as ‘amateur psychologists’ and making assumptions on that and other MH conditions.

Apart from not touching the surface of what was being imparted (the scale of the conference was mind boggling!), @profbeckyallen.bsky.social’s concept of ‘artisan’ teachers being those who often plan from scratch and how generative AI may eventually and already is making the process more efficient

I’d never been to an education conference before July- now I’ve been to 3 in 3 months! Only problem is, staff at my school now think ‘conference’ is a euphemism for something… this weekend’s #rED24 takes some beating

Big thanks to @tombennett71.bsky.social and @hgaldinoshea.bsky.social for ResearchEd yesterday.
I'm very openly critical of many ideas that are popular at ResearchEd, so the fact that they let me speak and that I am warmly welcomed should be borne in mind by critics of it.
It's a very valuable forum
