Today is International Fact-Checking Day. It's no coincidence that it falls on right after April Fools' Day. For now, disinformation doesn't seem to recognise the existence of this day dedicated to verification. A shame, really...

Which cinnamon roll is better: the fluffy American-Polish version or the firmer Stockholm one? What if your AI assistant's answer was shaped by manipulated articles? At #UkraineVision, we showed how AI-assisted disinformation really works. The roll was a pretext for the bigger conversation.

What our second measurement says about misinformation on major platforms in Europe - Science Feedback TikTok continues to show the highest prevalence of mis/disinformation (~25% of exposure-weighted posts), up from ~20% in the first measurement. The interaction advantage of low-credibility accounts over high-credibility ones persisted or worsened on most platforms.

1 in 4 mis/disinformation posts on TikTok and nearly 1 in 5 on YouTube contain AI-generated content. Over 83% of these carry no label.

Health misinformation remains the dominant category on all platforms, representing approx. 43% of all identified mis/disinformation posts.

To help achieve that, we've joined the FACTory Project — an initiative aimed at improving the visibility of materials created by organisations like ours and adapting them to current online standards.

During the seminar, Jakub Śliż presented the Polish perspective, paying particular attention to the impact of artificial intelligence on the information environment and how different countries – including Poland and Hungary – are responding to the challenges of AI and disinformation.

This, in turn, has real implications for the country's future: – a decline in foreign investment,
– marginalisation on the European stage
– and growing poverty despite its rich history, potential and strong traditions.

The system, which once was based on pluralism and independence, has now been almost completely subordinated to the interests of the authorities.

Disinformation has become part of the official state narrative.

‘Hungary is unlucky – it has ended up with an intelligent tyrant.’ This sentence will stay with us.

During our visit in Budapest as a part of Polish-Hungarian cooperation under the auspices of Instytut im. Waldemara Felczaka, it became clear how profoundly the Hungarian media landscape has changed.
