This world scares me now, Jon.

So…
Andrew Tate launched the #Bruv party in the #UK with the premise of banning #LGBTIQ in the classrooms. This is, of course, while facing human trafficking trial in Romania and owing at least £2.7m in unpaid tax.

He said he’ll run for Prime Mjnister.

The handle #BRIJV on X has been suspended.

Here's the difference between CCS and CDR. CCS is from a point source, and CDR is from the free atmosphere. When we're at net zero (ha!), only CDR can remove CO₂ from the atmosphere.

Fidias Panayiotou yet again proves his ignorance on politics and the world.

Asked by the misogynist, far right, racist Putin-lover, Andrew Tate, about democracy in the #EU, he said it’s all an illusion.

I hate conspiracy theories but I’m certain now about an undermining Trump-Musk-Tate approach

#Inflation in the #UK has risen to 2.6%. But please read beyond the headlines. This was expected and it’s actually on the lower end of predictions by economists. The Bank of England base rate discussion happening tomorrow will probably keep the base rate at 4.75%

Do not go gentle into that good night by Dylan Thomas

Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright
Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,
And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way,
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight
Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

And you, my father, there on the sad height,
Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray.
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

“Do not go gentle into that good night” is perhaps one of my favourite poems. @itsembershouse.bsky.social knows I’m not a big poetry fan but this is a great one by Dylan Thomas, back in 1947 when times were a bit darker but light was ahead.

But does it, Javed? I feel there’s more fearmongering here than anything else.

How can one chose to die with honour (whatever their definition is) and who are we as society to strip them from that right?

Lastly, I am always #ProChoice with proactive regulation of the outcome of choices, not the choice itself.

👉 Religion should never EVER be a factor in policy. Your religious beliefs are just that. Yours, and beliefs. And they might change over time, they might morph and they might disappear.

👉 #Dignity is crucial for this. Allowing people to die dignified and choose the way they go is much more humane than the alternative!

👉 I understand the argument about how people might feel they are “expected” to carry out assisted dying so they’re not a burden on their families but that needs to be balanced with those who feel they are a burden on their families and cannot do anything about it.

👉 passing the bill is not (and should not) be an alternative or a get out of jail card for providing palliative or good end of life care.

👉 the bill does not mean that the government decides who lives and who dies. It means that it gives the option to do so to people.

The #AssistedDyingBill is set to pass its first stage tomorrow according to the latest figures by @thetimes.com

I’ve watched a number of videos of both sides of the argument and this is my take:

I agree, unfortunately 😔

We have seen this spike already over spilling outside the US. Racist, anti-LGBTQI+ and ableist comments and incidents are rampant at the moment, even in metropolitan cities like #London.

It’s gonna be a long winter I’m afraid but spring will come.

I always find it quite remarkable how the country seems to can’t operate outside the 5-21 degC, light rain to overcast range.
