Native RNA nanopore sequencing reveals antibiotic-induced loss of rRNA modifications in the A- and P-sites - Nature Communications It remains unclear whether rRNA modifications can be naturally altered in response to antibiotics in bacteria. Here, the authors analyzed direct RNA nanopore sequencing data with an analytical pipelin...

E. coli can modify their ribosomes by shedding specific chemicals in response to antibiotics like streptomycin and kasugamycin, making the drugs less effective. This adaptive mechanism represents a novel way bacteria develop resistance, posing challenges for combating AMR.

So long, London! Headed back to DC soon. It’s been a great trip from Paris for #KLEBS2024, train to London and we visited Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, Westminster Abbey and the Tower Bridge. Then rented a car and spent the last two days of our trip in the Cotswolds.

It’s really pretty. Not too busy right now. It rained a lot this passed weekend so the water levels are really high.

Every year, >200K newborns die from sepsis.
Our team used machine learning to develop a set of genes that can predict neonatal sepsis risk using at birth blood samples.
