I understand for folks raised RC. The life chose you, you didn't choose the life, yell at el papa as much as you want, it's fine. But my brother in Christ you could have been ANY kind of Christian and you picked the a kind with a Big Ass Dude You Are Required To Listen To And Can't Get Away From!!!
As a person who, at one point, considered converting to Roman Catholicism and did not because I could not submit to the Pope: WHY WOULD YOU CONVERT TO ROMAN CATHOLICISM IF YOU WERE NOT PREPARED TO SUBMIT TO THE POPE??
OK #Narthex: Do you post your sermons online, in text format, in a blog or other feed? If you do, link me to 'em, I'd love to add you to my feed reader!
LA, obviously LA, who is putting the stress somewhere else?? (Although I usually just call it "the phos")
No I don't think so and I would love to - I have often wondered how to get involved with the task force on AI usage, as a priest who is married to an MIT professor who works on computational language generation and who actually used early generative AI long before it hit the big time lol
Months ago I wrote something about AI use for religious professionals and never posted it cause I didn't want to shove it on FB; I finally spun up a personal site with more than just HTML and now I can share it: www.flourishklink.com/posts/aiforp...
RIGHT???
There's coffee in that nebula!!!
in honor of holy week, here’s the objective best tumblr post
I was just complaining that I need ramps and rhubarb now please
(FWIW many priests and deacons do hand it off to a lay cantor if they don't think they can sing it well enough to not be distracting - which is the bar...a lay cantor could almost always sing it better, but "best singer" is not the goal.)
Yeah, it does—and yet pastorally, WOOF. Especially at a church where that norm is not well understood! Hard!
Extremely tough situation - it is their absolute right to sing it but they JUST got there...I do not envy your priest or your church that situation!
Not just OK, the proper person to sing the Exsultet is a vocational deacon, retired or not! Second best choice is a priest (all priests are also deacons). A lay cantor is the third and least preferable option.
team biblical studies, sorry not sorry
I have to assume Netanyahu is doing not just a tit-for-tat against the Pope, but, given what Christians are remembering during Holy Week, actively trying to inflame Christian antisemitism.
It is incumbent on Christians not to give in to that temptation.
Dislike!!
I see that - but in that case I would hope to see those uses to be framed as "caution," not "to be encouraged." It's the full steam ahead language that concerns me.
I will say whoever picked these photos really cooked. They have the Mulder and Scully vibes
agree!
I'm sure. I was pretty disappointed at some of the screen policies I've seen. I never imagined I'd be considering Waldorf schools but... 😬
RIGHT? I want to sew some choir dress for my laptop now kind of. Give it a sweet little tippet.

Tolkien was a devout Catholic!! The most serious sin is the sin of despair—which he knows very well can be overcome through dogged determination: keep your hand on the plough. (Which is the most hobbity virtue.) The problem isn't how you feel, it's what you choose to do.
I was today years old when I realized that we use the word "installed" because
CHURCH STALLS.
🤯
@docmofo.bsky.social points out that also, these rules say there must be a vendor - I.E., the schools will ONLY use corporate systems, nothing free/libre & open even considered. Love 2 teach my child they are primarily a consumer of packaged goods!!
Ugh.
(The main reason I am considering private school is that I'm an Episcopal priest and we have many private Episcopal schools, many of which make consideration for clergy families.)
Yes - high quality public school is the answer; why is it like this?! I'm aghast at the situation.
