A screenshot of PayPal's terms of service. Big wall of legalese text, which I will be pasting in below. You don't need to read it, here's the important part:

"The key update to the Privacy Statement explains how we will share information with merchants to personalize your shopping experience and recommend our services to you. Personal information we disclose includes, for example, products, preferences, sizes, and styles we think you’ll like. Information gathered about you after the effective date of our updated Privacy Statement, November 27, 2024, will be shared with participating stores where you shop."

Here's the whole paragraph:

We are updating our Privacy Statement to explain how, starting early Summer 2025, we will share information to help improve your shopping experience and make it more personalized for you. In 2025 (less than 30 days away), PayPal will start selling your transaction history for targeted advertising.

I very highly recommend logging into your account and going to Settings > Data & Privacy > Personalized Shopping.

If you're reading this, turn that off RIGHT NOW before you forget.

My insurance has been great so far. But you know why? I have good coverage, yes, but more importantly, breast cancer is Very Common. (And Stanford clearly teaches their doctors how to argue with insurance.)

I'm obviously super grateful but also so, so mad-- it should be like this for everyone.

Dear fine purveyors of #fishmas, if I wanted to swap this made up angler fish in a board book I'm working on for a *real* species of anglerfish, which would be the *coolest*?

I realize all these questions have proven fruitless so far but...is anybody doing research on nanobots lichenizing?

5 winter squashes of different sizes and colors

Once again, my family has underestimated my willingness to commit to the bit, and so now we are having matryoshka squash for Thanksgiving. (You'd think they would learn someday. They have not.)

The real question: is the big blue and pink boy in back a Hubbard, a Queensland blue, or something else??

I see a lot of you still sharing posts from the obviously fake Count Dracula account, so please be aware:

- the real Count would never post during daylight hours in Romania

- his full given name is Vlad, not Vladimir

- he does not actually say “blah” and would never write it out in a post

Eek not licensed! Lichenized!

1 year ago 1 0 0 0

Also if we believe the hypothesis that prototaxites were licensed autotrophs, what would be the most likely symbionts? And a bunch of fiddly details related to that 🫠

1 year ago 1 0 1 0

Lots of questions about saxicolous crustose lichens, how quickly they digest their substrates, and under what circumstances they might plausibly grow very rapidly to be very, very big.

Ok, is this the kind of place yet where I could find an expert in either prototaxites or lichen who could answer some mildly absurd hypotheticals in service of some #soilpunk climate fiction?! It's a. (very unimportant but rather urgent) #fungi emergency 😅
