For All Mankind has _still_ got it and the new season is shaping up to be a good way to move the show forward. Definitely one I would recommend if you like epic stories with interesting characters.

Okay, I'm a real fan of this new transcripts feature in @overcast. The music notes to indicate where the theme song and ad breaks happen is killer on top of how nice it works for reading along and navigating an episode.
A house band at a Bavarian restaurant and beer garden
Technically I caught 3 bands last night πΊπ₯¨
The Verve Pipe on stage
Our Lady Peace
The Verve Pipe and Our Lady Peace in Buffalo last night.
Drummers (or any kind of musician, really), what are your opinions on the School of Rock for lessons for kids?
I'm looking for lessons for a beginner in grade school.

Saw Project Hail Mary with my older son today. We both loved it and it was awesome on 70mm IMAX.
Two thumbs way up! π π
I took a project that was already on the most recent versions of Vite and Vitest and upgraded it to Vite 8/Vitest 4.1 today. It all just worked on the first try. There were a couple of Vite-related plugins in the project and none of them needed updating.
Great work, Vite folks!

I took the family to see Hoppers last weekend. It was both not at all what I thought (I went into it without watching the trailer) and it was funnier than I expected. Overall I thought it was a good movie and worth a watch.
Yeah! My kids were a little younger but a couple years ago we went to Kyoto and Osaka. In Osaka they liked the aquarium and that area around it. One day we took a train ride out to see the deer at Nara. Then another day we went to Himeji castle and those were the highlights for the kids.
Oh man! I just learned that CSS Style Dictionaries include aliasing and take care of flatting down source tokens! I had no idea and now I'm completely sold.

Sass vs Vanilla CSS, which one do you prefer?
I used to use SASS but for the last 5+ years Iβve gone back to Vanilla CSS. I miss a few things, but for the most part, regular CSS works for all the things I want to do.
Also, while I don't feel like I'm "allergic" to frameworks, I find myself no longer assuming one is needed. I'm still not sure how I feel about LLMs, yet, but I wonder if I'll come to the same place eventually.
This post by @adactio.com says a lot of things that I'm thinking about as a web developer these days. It's a really great blog post.

You know that annoying experience on mobile websites where you need to find the little close button and can't swipe a menu closed?
The solution is simpler than you think.
With basic CSS scroll APIs, you can get built-in interruptible swipe gestures π₯³
And here's a video of my progress talked about in this post:

πΆπ‘ A new maker blog post is up! Here's a project that helped me get acquainted with WLED and a new generation of microcontrollers.

A LED strip glued to a 3D print and a piece of wood
Almost done with my first LED project in a while and this was a ton of fun to put together. Here's a WIP shot from earlier today when I finally got it all powered up!

Okay, so for EVs I'm all for "dumb" chargers that just provide power, but swapping out our home charger with one that keeps our history and estimates our charging costs based on our utility plan is nice. It's saying that based on the kW usage, my wife and I drove 2 cars all of January for $28!

A 3D-printed enclosure that looks like a Mac mini. The Apple logo on top has glow-in-the-dark filament to bring back the glowing effect that those cowards at the fruit company won't do!
A button on the side of the enclosure.
The enclosure with its top off, showing the ESP32 board and some wiring.
I crossed a maker threshold today: 3D printed an enclosure for an ESP32 to hook up to my LED test strip. Where do I go to collect my badge?

I just learned about this three.js course and everything about it, including the homepage, looks fantastic!

A phot of two books and a slip cover. The books are the Mark Hoppus autobiography and a separate book of photos.
I got a thing πΈπ
WLED is amazing! This is so much easier to do than it was ~15 years ago. #maker
Just got to my LED Hello, World! #maker
Oh, hey new Goldfinger album π€
My wife and I just caught up on the first season of The Pitt and we both really liked it. Now that the second season is a couple of episodes in, I think we're going to wait until we can binge the whole season. Waiting a whole week between episodes seems like it'll be tough to do with this show.
I know I'm an old now and my music is now considered Classic Rock, but it also means easier access to shows.. I just got literally front row tickets to Blues Traveler/Gin Blossoms πΈοΏΌ
I came up with an idea for a little electronics project and it's fun diving back into LEDs and microcontrollers. There are also a ton more choices out there than Arduino and Raspberry Pi for the thing I'm thinking of doing.
Made it to the end of Stranger Things. Which I'm glad because now people can stop yelling at me.
Heh a friend of mine told me that this was my version of a Sizzle Rizzle (a la @nerdy.dev). Maybe I can brush up on some video editing skills and put something together..
