The illustrator doesn't seem to have read the book's description of the triffids.
While rereading John Wyndham's The Day of the Triffids, I rewatched the 1981 TV series. I was as underwhelmed by the series as I was in 1981, but the book is a classic.

Novelisations of movies usually make for pretty poor reading, but this was excellent.

I'm reading it now, and really enjoying it.

I've listened to Popol Vuh's Bruder Des Schattens-Sohne Des Lichts and Nosferatu soundtrack albums a lot but finally digging deeper into their catalogue with these two albums. Any recommendations?

I'm always disappointed that the ending suggests it was just a dream.
I've just re-watched Children of the Stones - magnificent. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be a good quality print of this one, but the dodgy prints are still worth watching. Hopefully, it will turn up on DVD one day.
The 1970s was a golden era for dark and atmospheric supernatural children's TV in the UK. The 1978 BBC play Tarry-Dan Tarry-Dan Scarey Old Spooky Man is a fine example with an excellent performance by Colin Mayes. www.youtube.com/watch?v=EpkL...

That’s a pity. The ghost house was the best thing there.
Does it still have a ghost house? That was my favorite.
Did you go to Namjatown in Sunshine? That’s fun.
Are you back in Tokyo now?
I had no idea about the PR show, but not somewhere I want to be in the evening. Looks good though.
After re-watching the 3 Chocky TV series, I re-read John Wyndham's book. He really was a phenomenal writer.

I don’t think I’ve ever heard it before - but I’m constantly surprised at how much I’ve forgotten through being here for so long.
Stop it! You are making that up!
Yes, great covers. I hope the stories are as good. I’m surprised I never came across them before, but all part of the fun of building a collection. The series was very good.
I’ve just watched Hammer’s Moon Zero Two for the first time. It has a bad reputation, but it’s a pretty enjoyable piece of 60s pop sci-fi.

I saw a great short film at the cinema in the late 70s/early 80s. It stuck in my mind, but I couldn't remember what it was called. It was only decades later when the series was released on DVD that I discovered it was the 7th and final story in the series, The Old Banger.
Really pleased to find these 1960s anthologies which inspired the classic short-live 1970s TV series of the same name.
