If you make art (any art! Not just visual), no matter how big your audience or if you think you're "successful" or "enough", you are giving people the energy to get through another day.
You're part of the reason folks have an easier time holding on.
Keep creating!! Your art matters!!!

Dog's Mercury (Mercurialis perennis) in woodland in East Lothian, Scotland, in January 2025
Dog's Mercury
The Mercury has risen!
It gives us all a vision
of days to come
Warming sun
Birds in song
Won’t be long
Just a few
more weeks of blue
But winds can blow
with sleet and snow
on any day
through to May
So let’s suggest
we make the best
of winter’s cold:
days of gold

A detailed graphite drawing of an Eurasian eagle owl in a sketchbook. Tools, including graphite pencils, blending stumps, brushes, and a kneaded eraser, are displayed beside it on a wooden surface.
This Eurasian eagle owl came to life through a graphite sketch that started in a coffee shop, then to a pharmacy, and home. A nice mix of tools for this one including some makeup brushes for the background. Known for their striking orange eyes, these owls inspire elegance and power. #birds

Please don’t ever buy from TEMU. I have heard from several artists that their art has appeared on TEMU’s shop without permission. It’s outright theft. It may be cheap to buy from there but think about the impact it’s having on people and the planet. #temu #boycotttemu
These little watercolour palettes are the size of a Vaseline tin but fit 12 half pans. So small it fits in the palm of your hand! You can buy them on my website: www.rosewildsmith.net/shop/p/mini-...

The plan was get another painting started this weekend, but we had new flooring to get down so it had to go on hold. I’ll start it tomorrow.
In the meantime here’s another one of my recent pieces, a little pen and watercolour mini illustrations

One of my favourite commissions of recent years. Oil on fine canvas. I love her direct stare and the sleepy cat. The whole pose feels familiar and comfortable.
Painting featuring a lying black cat facing right and looking outwards to the left behind three tall stemmed pink flowers protruding out of bulbs and a patchy black orange and white sitting cat to the right facing left in front of which are two more tall stemmed pink flowers, all on a cream background

We pass down our history through songs and stories, creating throughlines of memory that echo other complex systems that we find in nature
Also, hey there everyone 🖤

Thanks for this. Wow, another Brexit nail in the coffin. I live in the EU but am British and just sending gifts to friends and family is nigh on impossible nowadays. It’s such a shame
Does this apply to companies based in the EU or only to products produced outside the EU and imported?
