Apologies to Ronnie and you're welcome to He. I fell asleep at the beginning of the match and since I woke up, Ronnie hasn't scored. I could hear it but was too tired to open my eyes.

• JD VANCE RESPONDS TO POPE LEO:
"When the Pope says that God is never on the side of those who wield the sword - there is more than a THOUSAND year tradition of Just war Theory."

"In the same way that it's important for the vice president of the United States to be careful when I talk about matters of public policy, I think it's very, very important for the pope to be careful when he talks about matters of theology."

"And I think that one of these issues here is that there has been - if you're going to opine on matters of theology, you've got to be careful, you've got to make sure it's anchored in the truth, and that's one of the things that I try to do, and it's certainly something I would expect from the clergy, whether they're Catholic or Protestant."

I’ve given this a great deal of thought, trying to come up with the perfect joke for this moment, and this is what I have so far -

POPE LEO: our religion teaches that this war is bad

VANCE: wow, who died and made YOU head of the Catholic Church??

POPE LEO: well, you should know, you were there

Really really. I don't want to see the underside of the table. Especially on a shaky camera.

I don't mind it except I'm not crazy about the lead woman's intonation. Also I miss the Jill/Neal dynamic. I like that they're giving Higgins a try and the commercials aren't so dire. Oh..Hallworth triggers my anxiety so that's not great. But Matthew Stevens is OK.

It's funny to be watching half pipe skiing and Mark Selby playing snooker at the same time. Hugely different energies!

Edmund and The Wolf A wolf is central to the legend of St Edmund and you can find artwork around the town which tells the story.

Very appropriate for Bury St Edmunds. visit-burystedmunds.co.uk/blog/edmund-...

That was surprising. Never heard that from a royal correspondent before.

It tires me out just to watch! They had a segment before the race that showed the blond skier commentator trying it with a male athlete "in the wild" where they are going up rocks, not steps. With skins on the skis on the way up and they take them off on the way down to be more slidey.

Chart by Neil Kaye showing the lengthening and shortening of daylight hours in southern Britain each week through the year. Each bar represents how much daylight is gained or lost each week.
The line is roughly a sine curve (head blown emoji), with the fastest daylight gains in Feb, March and April, and the fastest losses in Aug, Sep and October.

A quick reminder of what #BigFebruary is about…
Thanks to the magic of the cosmos, we start gaining daylight much faster in Feb than in Jan. Over 20 mins a week - setting us up for Spring.

This chart is by @neilrkaye.bsky.social and is one of my all time favourites.

Harry Hill has a new podcast on Youtube--the Harry Hill Show. Comes out Monday morning. All the craziness of his tv show but in essentially an empty room. Bizarre but works. Stewart Lee was his first guest. Also had Nish Kumar and CMAT. Also a serious educational guest and a Name That Seed.

I really don't enjoy doughnuts. If you describe what a doughnut is, it sounds like something I would love, but I don't. Always seem a bit heavy and sickly. And I really don't like sweet rolls/bear claws etc. [Cinnabons excluded]

I moved to England about 15 years ago and sometimes I quite like a scone [cheese scones better]. Crumpets were a huge disappointment to me though. I thought they' d be crumbly but they are spongy/chewy and always sort of taste of Bisquick.

Sharron Davies lives in a small town that can easily be walked end to end in 15 min. Restaurants, supermarket. Could use traffic control though!

[For Bruce songs written about specific occasions that were also great musically I'd give you 41 Shots/American Skin, Wrecking Ball, The entire The Rising album, and My City of Ruins, which was written before 9/11 but performed at the concert a few days later.] #StreetsOfMinneapolis
