Anyone else constantly vacillating between wanting to build community (or at least contribute to one) one moment and wanting to disappear into the Appalachian mountains to build a log cabin/rock shelter into the side of the mountain and become a cryptid the next?
Cool me neither.
Almost like he behaves like a real estate developer...
Holy crap Kara Walker chopped up a Stonewall Jackson statue and revealed a monster
Happy John Brown’s Raid day to all who celebrate
When everything feels out of control, making, fixing, and cleaning bring me some peace. Today I made some bread and cleaned my floors.
This was magnificent.
Putting aside the imaginary organization part, saying Anti Facists have an agenda to destroy you just feels like your telling on yourself.
DC is a place that’s way more than government & I lost the rest of this thought because I’m turning to dust but don’t these 3 new books about different aspects of the history of the DC punk scene sound interesting

Trans rights are human rights.
Trans rights are not optional or negotiable.

As much to myself as it is to everyone else right now:
Un-clench your jaw, take a deep breath, relax the muscles in your neck and shoulders.
There's hope everyday you're still above ground.
Unless you're an archaeologist, then there's still hope when you're in a pit...well...
spite anyway.
They're coming for the Smithsonian now.
Funny how "erasing history" only applies to tearing down Confederate monuments, emphasizing the role of enslavement in the development of the U.S., & renaming military bases named after Confederates, but not to acknowledging historical Black, Brown, queer, and trans folks

Al Green removed after disrupting Trump's speech.
Hey. Hey.

The archaeologist for Vicksburg National Military Park was terminated. I knew him because he reached out for help when a landslide disturbed Black Civil War veterans' graves on an Indigenous burial mound. He ensured utmost respect & honor for both deceased & descendants.
Our admin didn't care.
People ask this question a LOT, so I talked to some amazing folks and wrote a short explainer.
tl;dr - Leave it, take a pic, tell the SHPO. 🏺🧪
Allowing the administration to define broad swaths of history, programming and civil rights compliance as “DEI” and then regurgitating that language instead of clearly articulating what specifically is being targeted is spreading disinformation and propaganda.

Doing my best not to panic and just be ready to help when and where I can.
Saw @wkamaubell.bsky.social at the Kennedy Center last night, which will probably be the last time I go there for a while. He shared a good list of priorities;
1. Take care of yourself
2. Take care of your family
3. Take care of your community
4. [Punchline redacted but it's timely and good advice]
