So you think taxpayers who aren't attending the games should cover the cost instead?

This isn't surge pricing. It's the fee that NJT needs to charge to avoid passing on the cost to run this additional service, security requirements, etc to NJ taxpayers bc FIFA isn't helping to subsidize.
This is that type of NYC weather that you dream about.
"Dropping Prospect Park West from three motor vehicle lanes to two will cause traffic." It did not.
"Closing Prospect Park to cars will cause traffic." It did not.
What does cause traffic is all the cars.
Get the truck that fits the streets, not make the streets fit the truck
Congress has four major powers: Write the budget, declare war, conduct oversight, debate and enact policy into statute. It's basically given up all four of them at this point.
Do you know the difference between operating a diesel and electric locomotive in 2026?
You'd have to be a dead fish to not know that
Nope!
You simply don't have to hand it to Tucker Carlson.
Buddy, voting against the war isn't going to stop Trump. If the nominal opposition leader can't call for his removal from office today right now immediately, he should also be relieved of his job.
From DM Bozorg:
โOur state policymakers in Albany have an opportunity to make a real dent in the housing crisis. Reforming the stateโs environmental review process sounds wonky, but it is fundamentally about a critically important question: whether we are able to deliver a more affordable city.โ
The current 12-game Jeopardy champion works at an affordable housing finance agency in NJ, and shamed New York for not building more housing:
"NJ's doing really well, we're ahead of NY, CT, PA. If you're from one of those states, shame on you, build more housing."
โI am political,โ Ms. Rachel told me of her new effort to free kids from ICE detention.
โItโs political to believe that children are worthy of love โฆ and that our care shouldnโt stop at what we look like, our family, at our religion, at a border. Mr. Rogers was very political.โ
The patagonia moms in question are objectively more radical than the self-styled revolutionaries who like to sneer at these protests.
Seeing a million people turn out and snake through a large city is very cool, I wonโt deny that
but my favorite genre of post during these protests is โsmall town in a red state with the biggest crowd anyone has ever seenโ
I was talking to someone the other day who hates congestion pricing (she lives in the zone and has a car), one of her points of contention is that it's not fair that it's not the whole borough of Manhattan... Well, I have an idea to fix that
That Bold Green Eastbound arrow you see on 8th street : Sharrows and a painted door zone #bikenyc lane like it is 2008
It would require state approval and wholesale raising the rates under the current (shitty) system is something that the city can do themselves
Ok but we shouldn't be raising property tax rates in NYC without first reforming the inequitable clusterfuck that is our property tax system
Absolutely but then I remember what people are like up there
Every single thing named after Cesar Chavez should be renamed for Dolores Huerta

She should sue specifically because I want all of these posts coming out in discovery

Is the premise of this story that the mayor should make lighthearted video content about an ongoing criminal investigation www.nytimes.com/2026/03/09/n...
I've always been skeptical of BRT proposals for NYC at best, but this - an idea that would cost hundreds of millions of dollars (at least) directly on top of our city's most reliable subway line to get bus speeds up to *10mph* - is absurd.
