Not my best but I'd had two glasses of wine. The wine shop had an AMAZE AMAZE AMAZE sale on North Fork wines today -- and, well, I don't have access to Ilyukhina's vodka stash.

Having so much fun with my new bird camera and (less new) watercolor set
Really recommend the purchase of a bridge camera (as they were explained to me by @melvinpena.bsky.social) as it enhances the birding experience a great deal.
Have to admit, I had to laugh at the bit about getting sued for scraping all of the world's published books in human history.

Is there a transcript / captions / other accessible option? Excited for this podcast (or any podcast with @klonick.bsky.social)!
This book (and the one it was inspired by, Le Devoir du Violence) was written before the whole AI craze, and it centers around a question of copying in art.
Only fools would think there are bright lines between plagiarism and pastiche, slop and sampling.

We rushed to install solar before the tax credit expired. Now we charge our NX 450h+ for the low, low cost of $0.
Tried explaining this to a maga mom here on Long Island, but she "doesn't trust solar."
Wong Kim Ark & Look Tin Sing (and their badass old white guy lawyers) took bullets for anybody who gets questioned about belonging because we look foreign. People challenging the 14th amendment on bullshit nativist grounds are really the ones whose Americanness is doubtful.
I had to find another ADHD googler (just asked our chat group) to body double me while I collected all my statements and receipts for my accountant.
Two 30 min sessions. We just sat in silence and did it.
First year Alan (accountant) didn't have to file an extension for me.
It's so annoying.
Try circle to search or lens, then append your image search w "who painted this" -- which will lead to better results. This is called a multimodal search (image and text).
Fyi it appears the artist is unknown.
Not sure what's going on but ABT, NYCB, Dance Theater of Harlem, AND the NYPhil are doing firebird this season.

I hate this movie. JUSTICE FOR MIDGE. She's perfect. She's fun. She's smart. She hasn't committed any crimes.
At least Vitamin K refusal only hurts their own kids, unlike vaccine refusal. Sorry that may come off as a little mean. But my sympathy plummets when their "choices" mean the community suffers, like with herd immunity or rejecting fluoridation in the water supply.
PD James did my boy Col Fitzwilliam dirty
Still, probably the best of the Austen fanfic

This is what I've been telling people that TPUs are for
Tchaikovsky conceptualizes the relationship between sci-fi and high fantasy essentially as one of translation drift.
Absolutely brilliant, esp when we consider that magic, alchemy, physics, and science all used to be one discipline, prior to the Enlightenment.

Ooh then lemme tell you about the Quaker vegetarian abolitionist dwarf, Benjamin Lay!
"He ended by plunging a sword into a Bible containing a bladder of blood-red pokeberry juice, which spattered over those nearby. 'Thus shall God shed the blood of those persons who enslave their fellowcreatures!'"
You know how the cool kid only hangs with the smart kid so that the latter will do his homework for him? That's this book. And I don't hate it.
I marvel at the brilliance of China Miéville, who was able to take whatever crackpot ideas Keanu Reeves had and make it into a passable novel.

Stavros niarchos branch has bloomberg terminals that anyone can use. It's pretty cool.
Very similar thematically to the Midnight Library but with superior execution.
Looking forward to reading the quasi sequel.

One bit of old school Google is that you can edit a tagline for yourself in your work profile. Norm is that people put lots of quirky things there. Mine is: defending the internet from ten thousand duck bites
So you can guess why I'm jazzed to have gotten this in the mail from @techdirt.com
During my 18 mo stint at the HQ of Performative Sociability (aka FB), I lived off of Willow Road, just down the street from the VA mental hospital Ken Kesey worked at.
If there's ever a place that could inspire a tale of oppressive conformity, it's Menlo Park, CA.
