These are the tracks 🐾 we saw on our walk along the irrigation ditch. I at first thought they were webbed but now I'm not so sure. I've NEVER this bird heard & I couldn't get Merlin to catch it. So I went down the list of likely birds & listened to each one. This hit the jackpot.

I've been hearing a new bird for about a week, always at the end of our yard, w/ irrigation ditch which now has water 4 Alfalfa fields. Then on our walk today we saw BIG tracks that I thought looked webbed, see next video & you tell me!

The ducks were out too.
McHenry Dam on the Fox River in Illinois is currently a pelican stopover. They're mingling with cormorants. Bald eagles also have a nest and at least two hatchlings. #birdsky

I've gone from #MoonJoy to #BirdJoy rare find today, even more rare for this early in the season. Eastern Towhee, so cute and what a beautiful song. #MerlinBirdApp #BirdSky poor quality taken on phone thru a screen at a distance, not too bad for all that. Live cages are for relocating tree rats.

An Oregon (Dark-Eyed) Junco nest next to a house. A piece of electrical conduit runs through the center of the photo, with this year's nest at its base. In the nest you can see four eggs. At the middle of the left hand edge of the frame you can see the nest from last year. The birds spent quite a bit of time "working" on last year's nest before switching to the new nest at the base of the conduit.
After long & careful consideration, the Junco family has decided not to reuse last year's nest. They have built a new one next door. Over the last several days a new egg has appeared in the nest each morning. They now have four. Expecting chicks around the 26th! #BirdSky #Junco

#ornothology #birdID #Birdsky (? Lol) idk who to tag #birdwatching I am in Central va and this is in a riparian forest close to swift creek resevoir. Saw 2 very large birds, very curious what. They were dark brown to black and did have aome type of markings but couldn't truly see buzzard? Vulture?
