Almost like they are worried about something this particular midterm. Like they know most people are pissed off. Fascinating π€
I have always been unaffiliated and was so happy when Prop 108 passed.
I hope this ruling is upheld and consequences of party actions (and inaction) becomes a thing.

Lol!!
A dark bird with its wings open sporting a skinny bill and turquoise eyes, sitting on a whitish post coming out of the water.
A neotropical cormorant drying its wings on a barnacle encrusted post on South Padre Island.
Cormorants have beautiful, turquoise jewels for eyes. These lovely eyes are found in many of the Phalacrocoracidae, the cormorants and shags, including some peeprs that look like rubies.
A grey and rust-colored bird with a pink and black bill.
Reddish egrets are known for being very active feeders, running around spastically. This one was taking a break from hunting and giving me great opportunities for photos on South Padre Island.
Green parrots sit on power lines with one taking off in flight. These birds have a mixed status in the Lower Rio Grande Valley. Some argue the birds naturally migrated north from their range in Mexico, some argue they are escaped/released pets. The reality is probably a mix of both, but today they are considered native by the state of Texas and they are a strong population representing a species in peril from habitat loss and heavy pressure from the pet trade. There's something special about seeing wild parrots getting to be wild parrots. It was wonderful getting to watch their behaviors and little dramas as the flock gathered and prepared for their communal bedtime.
This is not even close to the clearest photo I have taken of these endangered red-crowned parrots (aka red-crowned amazon, green-cheeked amazon, or Mexican red-headed parrot), but I like the lines, the parrots all doing different things, and only one taking flight. β¨Learn more in the alt text π¦
Two pink and white birds with spoon-like bill stand facing each other, their heads almost touching.
Flamingos are not the only bright pink birds out there, and they aren't even the only bright pink birds with funky bills. These roseate spoonbills also get their flashy colors from carotenoids, pigments they get from the aquatic invertebrates in their diet.
YOU KNOW WHAT
BRENDA.
BRENDA!!
A roadrunner with drooped wings and raised back feathers taking in morning sunbeams.
"Engage the solar panels!"
Roadrunners droop their wings and raise their back and rump feathers to expose the downy feathers and skin underneath in order to take in warm sunbeams. They look ridiculous while they do it and I love it.
Delightful questions I get to have in my career path, from a student: "I'm cleaning up my experiment, what would you like me to do with my leftover blood and the E. coli?"
She is an amazing, ambitious student who is interested in microbiology and is going to just kill it in college next year!
Right? Thatβs also how I feel about woodcocks π
They wouldnβt let me have mine π€
A black, white, and rust colored bird with an upturned bill flies over water.
The avocets have returned to Colorado. I love photographing these elegant, bizarre birds.

This site does a good job defining a lot of them: www.themodernapprentice.com/glossary.htm
...this is an evolutionary strategy that works and other species have evolved to thrive alongside them regardless (at least 101 species of songbirds). Some host species appear to recognize the threat cowbirds pose to their broods and actively harass and chase them during the breeding season.
A shiny black bird with blazing red eyes. This photo was taken at Laguna Atascosa National Wildlife Refuge in Southern Texas.
Bronzed cowbirds, like other cowbirds, are nest parasites. This means they lay their eggs in other species' nests, instead of making their own. It can be very upsetting to see babies of a species you love getting harmed by their over-sized, unplanned, adopted sibling (and their parents). However...
This is Sadie. She was finally reunited with her human, astronaut Christina Koch, after her momβs voyage around the moon took her the furthest any human has ever been from their dog. She can't wait to hear all about the universe. 14/10 (IG: astro_christina)
Thank you!
An all white snowy egret wades through shallow water, it's yellow foot just below the surface.
I don't think I'll ever tire of photographing the Ardeidae (herons, egrets, bitterns). I love watching them stalk and hunt in shallow water and the lace-like breeding plumes are a particular treat to see. This is another photo from the Leonabelle Turnbull Birding Center on Mustang Island.
The last time I was really able to put pencil to paper for a sketch was when I was working comms at the Koyuk checkpoint for the Iditarod. I drew one of the dogs in an incoming team.

Not interested in putting a QR code on the front either. Itβs not for marketing, itβs for biological/paleontological information that needs to be with the poster forever. This is similar to what Iβm doing on the back.
This is what the product will be, so I need to find a printer that can do it.
Itβs for information on the back side. I have several biology posters that do just this and am trying to find a printer that will do it.
Still looking for help if anyone has experience. #sciart
I was just there and this is devastating news.

Itβs the juvenile phase of a spotted newt, a king of amphibian.
A photo of a red eft, the terrestrial, juvenile stage of the eastern/red-spotted newt (Notophthalmus viridescens). Behind the eft are living lycopods (clubmoss), the oldest extant group of vascular plants, estimated to have evolved around 410 million years ago! To put this in perspective, amphibians didn't show up in the fossil record until about 360 million years ago! Even closer to home, mammals only showed up around 120 million years ago; primates only 65 million years ago; the earliest humans (Homo spp.) only showed up about 2.3 million years ago; and Homo sapiens a mere 200,000 years ago. This means we've been around only 0.05% of the time the lycopods have. Thinking about this blows my mind in all sorts of amazing ways!!!
A photo I took in 2015, that I still love. Check the alt text for more information about all the cool things going on in this picture of a red eft. #scicomm

What service do people prefer for printing art posters?
I want to make poster prints available of βI Contain Multitudesβ. Iβd like a semi-glosse/satine for the art side and be able to print the organism key on the back with a matte/paper texture.
Thank you for any help!
