Absolutely disgusting that a driver would do this during the memorial event for a child killed by a driver.....let that sink in 😢

We charge our #EV almost exclusively at home overnight since buying it 6 months ago. #BCHydro just did an adjustment on our equalized payments. A tiny jump to drive our electric car everyday (wife commutes) in light of the cost of gas right now. (we also have an extra adult in house since last yr).⚡

Bro, you didn't see the Slack? Did you read my email? I sent it to you on Signal. Did it disappear? I texted you. Wait, I meant WhatsApp. I called you. I assigned it to you on Notion. I added you to the invite. It's on the Discord, did you see it? You're not in that channel?

This is just crazy to me and why I have been slowly adjusting my savings into hard assets like paying down our mortgage quicker and replaced our car etc . At least my home and my car won't burst in an AI bubble or the next Trump news clip.

As you begin your spring yard cleanup, take time to help protect your home from fires.

🌳Clear the immediate area (0-1.5m) around your home from debris and fuels
🍂Clean roofs and gutters
🪵Move flammable material away from wall exteriors
🪑Remove anything stored underneath decks or porches

Wealthsimple partners with Elon Musk’s X for direct stock trading via social media Stock tickers on X posts will now link to FinTech’s trading platform for Canadian users.

Long sigh. Who's got good resources for doing what @wealthsimple.bsky.social does on your own? Because I'm not keeping my money with a company that does this.

Why is it that price signals, the manifestation of the free market, are some innately wise force when it comes to housing or groceries — but when gas prices rise, we should do everything we can to blunt it? Are drivers exempt from the free market? Are there no alternatives to driving SUVs?

Japan incinerates over 70% of its municipal solid waste, utilizing advanced Waste-to-Energy (WtE) technology to generate electricity. As of 2022, over 400 incineration facilities convert waste into energy, producing roughly 13,331 GWh of electricity annually, enough for 2.6 million households.

Burning Garbage, but Reducing Greenhouse Gases | The Government of Japan - JapanGov - Japan’s technology that changes garbage into clean energy is now helping to drive decarbonization transition in Asia.

I am always thinking about the amount of money spent on handling waste on VanIsle as well as the large carbon footprint of shipping it off the island. I keep circling around to what Japan (and many EU countries) do with regards to incineration generation of power.

Last year the Carney government defunded the Canada Greener Homes Loan program which provides zero interest financing for various home energy retrofits. Each $6000 invested in the program unlocked $40,000 of private money, acting as an accelerator for clean electricity.

Gas tax breaks are bandaids at best. Real solution is to help low & middle-income Cdns get off fossil fuels. Invest in solar, heat pumps, batteries, EVs. Tackle barriers, offer real incentives & fund w/ windfall tax on Big Oil (who are laughing all the way to the bank). Cleaner, cheaper, healthier.

Something very annoying is how people misrepresent the position of advocates as, "You want everyone to bike!"

No, we want everyone to have a multitude of safe, efficient, accessible, and affordable options, whether that's bikes, scooters, trains, buses...or simply walking.

"The term “AI agent” exists as both a marketing term and a way to ingratiate the user. Saying “yeah I used a chatbot to do some stuff” sounds boring, like you’re talking to an app or a website, but “using an AI agent” makes you sound like a futuristic cyber-warrior "
