Terminal clusters (2) of flowers. Spiraea douglasii. They're left on the shrub over winter, and are now deep brown. (They start out deep pink.) Long, narrow, compact clusters on bare stems. Two life-sized figures created out of driftwood. On the right, a large "man" over 2 metres tall, all brown wood. His knees are slightly bent, arms hanging down, one hand a bit forward, as if holding something to offer to the bear. The bear, with his back to us, sits on a cut-off stump. He's small, barely a cub, even on the stump he's only half-thigh height to the Forest Guardian. (He looks like a Sasquatch, but friendlier. And the maker says he's a Forest Guardian.) He stands on a cement slab. Behind him, there's a gravel area, then trees. On the left, behind some trees, there are cars on a bridge.
