An image charting out my perspective on the different eras, categories, and subcategories of the Urusei Yatsura anime.

Made a chart about a year and a half ago on how I'd personally categorize the progression and evolution of the show. By no means meant to be definitive or objective, but just personally how I view things.

Rewatched some Urusei Yatsura episodes with friends and was reminded of just how phenomenal it is. It's my favourite and one of the very best cartoon shows ever made and everyone should watch it.

I pretty firmly believe that graphical power in video games had very little reason to go beyond what the 6th gen could accomplish at its height.

This is a cute illustration bidding farewell to the Mega Drive, featuring many of Sega's most iconic characters on the console and its many add-ons. Taken from the September 1995 issue of Sega Saturn Magazine.

It might just be because I'm not seeing it, but it seems to me that the people who really love Sonic Superstars like it way more than the people who really love Mario Wonder like that game.

Was gonna be mean and say they shouldn't have made any more after Three Caballeros, but I'll be a bit nicer and give them up to Lilo and Stitch.

Was originally thinking of just having Pikachu hold a Game Boy, but I first played the games on my GBA and wanted to draw something closer to my own history with the series.

I hope eventually all the pre-Switch games will be on the console. If they do more and only go for the remakes though that would make me so sad. I'd rather play RB over FRLG, though I still do like those remakes, but I vastly prefer GSC and RSE over their remakes. Don't like HGSS and ORAS at all.

I love FireRed and LeafGreen and I'm glad they'll be on the Switch, however I'm not looking forward to the almost inevitable discussion about how they are "objectively superior and replacements for Gen 1" since Pokemon RBY aren't also being added right now.

sure there are really smart people talking about the really artsy games, and huge fans hanging on to every piece of lore in their favorite series, but not enough people apply literary analysis and historical context to like..

Yume Nikki and NiGHTS into Dreams for me. With YN it's less of an escape and more of a way to feel in melancholic solidarity with something and sit with my feelings for a while. NiD never fails to put me in a good mood with its arcadey gameplay, dreamy art and music, and story of mental self-care.

If I had to pick an exact moment I became a fan of the series it would be that.

at the trees around me. In that moment I felt struck by the synergy between the game and the beauty of the nature I was standing in. I've never experienced anything like that before or really since, and to this day it's one of my fondest memories and experiences playing a video game.
