Game workers do not receive any residuals/royalties on shipped titles and shipping bonuses are increasingly rare. There's also no guarantee that your name will even be in the credits if you leave before ship, and studios will use this to keep you compliant.

Started reworking the fishing mechanic in my, uh, fishing game.
I liked how it looked/felt, but the actual math was...
a) ...too opaque for the player to intuit
b) ...too complex to actually balance
Under the hood it won't be less complex, but hopefully more predictable (to both, me and the player)

I've told countless project leads "being volunteer work/pro bono is not a dealbreaker, it just means you may have less applicants than if it was paid."
PASSION and PERSONAL ATTACHMENT factor in as well! I have *absolutely* auditioned for/taken on gigs that I KNEW were unpaid, just bc it looked fun!
Your options for placeholders:
- Make them yourself (difficult, takes time)
- Slop (monthly sub, kills the planet, enriches oligarchs, bad assets, everyone hates you and they're right)
- Incredibly made game assets by @kenney.nl ($19.95, one-time, supports give-aways to those who can't afford it)
Added some very rough block-out models to my hub level, just to have something there, already—I like how it already gives a bit of an idea of the place!
(I want to concentrate more on mechanics, again, so chances are there'll be more untextured models and placeholders, in the near future, heh.)
I would like to sell these at the artist alley at #Eurofurence this year - they are convention/fursuit badge holders that I designed and 3D printed. I am just wondering how many it would make sense to bring with me.
